Impact of Patients’ Education upon Reducing Psychological Distress during Diabetic Journey
...Show More Authors
Abstract
<title>Background and Objectives:

Diabetes distress (DD), an emotional burden that does not meet the diagnostic criteria for major depressive disorder, has gained attention in the diabetes literature. It was to evaluate the impact of diabetes education among psychological distress in type 2 diabetes patients.

Materials and Methods:

A cross-sectional study was conducted between November 1, 2024, and March 1, 2025, at the Endocrine and diabetes center in Baghdad City, Iraq, targeting persons aged 30 and older with diabetes who had engaged in-person clinics. Data were collected through structured phone interviews, supplemented by laboratory results from clinical records. The survey included demographic details, diabetes information, and the Psychological Distress Scale. Statistical analyses, including descriptive statistics, were performed to explore the relationships between DD, sociodemographics variables, and Pearson’s correlation.

Results:

The results showed a significant psychological distress among diabetic patients and also indicate a relationship between psychological distress and type II diabetes.

Conclusions:

Diabetic patients suffer from various psychological stressors, most notably anxiety about diabetes and future complications. There is a direct relationship between the duration of diabetes and the level of psychological distress, meaning that patients with diabetes for a long time are more likely to experience psychological distress. We recommended providing psychological support programs for diabetes patients and offering psychological counseling sessions to help them cope with anxiety and depression associated with the disease.

Comparison of Climate Change Impact upon Water Productivity of Winter Wheat in Northern and Southern Regions of Iraq
...Show More Authors
Abstract<p>Maximizing the water productivity for any agricultural system is considered an adaptation to the potential climate change crisis. It is required, especially in arid and semi-arid environments in Iraq. Therefore, this study assessed the potential impact of climate change on the different environments in the Qadissiya and Nineveh provinces. The ensemble of six GCM models employed for the regional climate model of the HCLIM-ALADIN in high-resolution 10*10 km2 and Aqua-Crop was used to examine the response of water productivity and yield of winter wheat. With and without CO2 concentration changing under different water regimes in the near term (2020-2040</p> ... Show More

: Partial purification of phosphoenolpyruvate carboxykinase (PEPCK) from type 2 diabetic patients sera take place using some purification steps such as participation with ammonium sulphate (55-80%) and filtered through dialysis, then ion exchange chromatography by DEAE sepharose anion column, gel filtration chromatography by sephadex G-100 column. In ion exchange step, there are four peak are obtained, the highest enzyme activity obtained by (0.4 M Nacl) with purification fold (2.18), yield (44.3) of enzyme and specific activity (13.5) mg/ng, which obtained a single peak by gel filtration chromatography, the degree of purification (5.34) fold, yield of enzyme (20%) with specific activity (33.109mg/ng).
