Assessment of Left Ventricular Function in Body builders using conventional echocardiography

Background: Powerlifters and bodybuilders use anabolic androgenic steroids (AAS) especially – as many as 55 percent of elite powerlifters admitted using these agents. In contrast to numerous documented toxic and hormonal effects of AAS their impact on the structure and function of the left ventricular (LV) was not yet fully understood.

Comparison of periodontal health status in relation to IQ in right- and left handed individuals

Background: Periodontal disease (PD) is a chronic inflammatory condition characterized by destruction of supporting structures of the teeth. Intelligence quotient (IQ) was potentially reported to significantly associated with prevalence of gingivitis. Mild gingivitis was obtained in high IQ levels while moderate gingivitis may be attributed to poor oral hygiene seen among the subjects having low IQ levels. Method: One hundred volunteers aged between 20-45 years old were enrolled in this study, patients were equally divided into right- and left-handed (50 patients each)and each group then subdivided into patients with healthy gingiva(10), patients with gingivitis (20), and patients suffering from periodontitis (20).An IQ questionnaire was p

Using simulation to compare between parametric and nonparametric transfer function model

In this paper, The transfer function model in the time series was estimated using different methods, including parametric Represented by the method of the Conditional Likelihood Function, as well as the use of abilities nonparametric are in two methods  local linear regression and cubic smoothing spline method, This research aims to compare those capabilities with the nonlinear transfer function model by using the style of simulation and the study of two models as output variable and one model as input variable in addition t

Enviromental impact assessment of cement industry using Leopold Matrix

The assessment of the environmental impact of the cement industry using the Leopold Matrix is to determine the negative and positive impacts on the environment resulting from this industry, and what are the long-term and short-term effects, direct and indirect, and the amount of these effects and potential risks, and that this evaluation process is done through a number of methods, including Matrix method, including (Leopold).

The importance of the research because the cement occupies is of great importance in the world, especially in our country, Iraq, in the sector of construction and modernity, and the toxic emissions and solid waste produced by the production of this material. <

Stresses and Displacements Analyses around Tunnel Opening Under Water Body Using Finite Element Method (FEM) in Baghdad City/Middle of Iraq

In this study, the stresses and displacement around a tunnel opening under water body in Baghdad city, middle of Iraq, during excavation and lining are discussed. For this purpose, the finite element method (FEM) was adopted as an effective approach to analyze the problem using (SIGMA/W) program. The research includes the study of the behavior of soil due to excavation of a tunnel by calculating the displacements and stresses in three positions of the tunnel (crown, wall, and invert) during the various stages of construction. The surface settlement is also studied. The finite element analyses were carried out Using (Elastic- plastic) and (linear elastic) models for the soil and the concrete liner respectively.

Identification of Pathogenic Fungi in Renal Transplant Patients by Conventional and Molecular Methods

Opportunistic fungal infections due to the immune- compromised status of renal transplant patients are related to high rates of morbidity and mortality regardless of their minor incidence. Delayed in identification of invasive fungal infections (IFIs), will lead to delayed treatment and results in high mortality in those populations. The study aimed to assess the frequency of invasive fungal infection in kidney transplant recipients by conventional and molecular methods. This study included 100 kidney transplant recipients (KTR) (75 males, and 25 females), collected from the Centre of Kidney Diseases and Transplantation in the Medical City of Baghdad. Blood samples were collected during the period from June 2018 to April 2019. Twent

Conventional and Molecular Typing of Salmonella enterica serotype Typhi Locally Isolated In Baghdad

Phenotypic And genotypic characteristics of Salmonella enterica serotype Typhi have been determined for 29 isolates, from Baghdad in 2007. Conventional typing methods were performed by biochemical tests, and antimicrobial susceptibility test. Molecular typing performed by analysis plasmid DNA beside using the Random Amplified Polymorphic DNA (RAPD-PCR). For the latter, two universal primers that have selected for the high discriminatory power were used for RAPD analysis. All isolates were belong one biotype according to the differention by their ability to decarboxylat lysine, 29(100%) were lysine (+). All the isolates were susceptible to the Antibiotics used. However, all the strains free of plasmids. RAPD was capable of grouping the strai

Synthetic vertebral body implantation Functional outcome in management of spinal disorders

Background: Synthetic vertebral body replacement has been widely used recently to treat different spinal conditions affecting the anterior column. They arrange from trauma, infections and even tumor conditions
Objective: To assess the functional outcome of this modality in different spinal conditions.
Patients and Methods: twenty-seven cases operated from Oct. 2010 to Dec. 9 cases had spinal fractures, 8 cases with spinal tuberculosis, and 10 cases with spinal tumors. They were followed clinically for a mean period of 36 months.
Results: All the cases approached anteriorly. 5 cases had postoperative infection. No neurological worsening reported. we had dramatic neurological improvement in all spinal tuberculo

Body Language in the Poetry of Ibn Al-Jayab Al-Farnati

Language is a means of communication among the human beings. Every language that distinguish them from others. However, there is language common that is common of all human beings without discrimination and expression of ideas. Perhaps it is more honest that the usual language.

The research is divided into a preface which speaks about the meaning of body language. Then we speak about body gestures like the eyes, hand, the tongue the heart reaching up the conclusion in which we found that the body language is one of the terms included in the Holy Quran, which has original roots. But this term is recently common and spread in the present time. Most of those who tack

Study the Effect of Hyperthyroidism on Heart Function by Using BNP as Indicator

The aim was made to specify the effect of hyperthyroidism on B-type natriuretic
peptide (BNP) level. Twenty patients with hyperthyroidism, 20 patients with
hyperthyroidism treated with (35) mg Carbimazole, 12 patients with
hyperthyroidism associated with heart failure and 20 healthy participants were
included in this study. Serum Triiodothyronine (T3), Thyroxin (T4) and Thyroid
stimulating hormone (TSH) have been used for hyperthyroidism diagnosis test, also
serum BNP level was measured. The results showed that the mean ± SE of serum
BNP was significantly (P<0.05) increased in hyperthyroid group (420.76 ± 83.43)
pg/mL and hyperthyroid with heart failure group (728.58±149.06) pg/mL when
compared with the c

Estimation of the Two Parameters for Generalized Rayleigh Distribution Function Using Simulation Technique

In this paper, suggested formula as well a conventional method for estimating the twoparameters (shape and scale) of the Generalized Rayleigh Distribution was proposed. For different sample sizes (small, medium, and large) and assumed several contrasts for the two parameters a percentile estimator was been used. Mean Square Error was implemented as an indicator of performance and comparisons of the performance have been carried out through data analysis and computer simulation between the suggested formulas versus the studied formula according to the applied indicator. It was observed from the results that the suggested method which was performed for the first time (as far as we know), had highly advantage than t
