Evaluation of atmospheric cold plasma technique activity on phenylpropanoids gene expression and essential oil contents and different traits of Ocimum basilicum L.
...Show More Authors

The current study was conducted for studying the impact of cold plasma on the expression level of three genes that participate in the biosynthesis of the phenylpropanoid pathway in Ocimum basilicum. These studied genes were cinnamate 4-hydroxylase (c4h), 4-coumarate CoA ligase (4cl), and eugenol O-methyl transferase (eomt). Also, the cold plasma impact was studied on the essential oil components and their relation with the gene expression level. The results demonstrated that cold plasma seeds germination of the treated groups 2 (initially for 3 minutes and 3 minutes after 7 days) ,and group 3(initially for 5 minutes and 3 minutes after 7 days)  were faster than the control group. Also, the height average of the mature plants of

INSECTICIDAL ACTIVITY OF EUCALYPTUS SP. VOLATILE OIL AGAINST BACKSWIMMER INSECT ANISOPS SARDEA
...Show More Authors

The objective of this study was to evaluate a natural bio-insecticide manufacturing from Eucalyptus sp. volatile oil. The use of Eucalyptus sp. against the Backswimmer insect Anisops sardea Herrich-Schaeffer, 1849 predatory of larvae of common carp fish, Cyprinus carpio L., in artificial closed ponds in Babylon province represented a new idea in Iraq. The volatile oil of the Eucalyptus sp. was extracted by hot water method using the Clevenger, three concentrations of 250000, 450000 and 650000 ppm with benzyl benzoate as a stabilizer were used, which has a boiling point of 324OC (slow evaporation) at field experiment. The results of field and laboratory experiments of the extracted volatile oil in different concentrations, showed that

Anticancer Activity of Sunflower (Helianthus annuns L.) Seeds oil against cell lines
...Show More Authors

This study investigated the role of sunflower (Helianthus annuns L.) seed extracts as a cytotoxic agent against two cell lines (RD and L20B) using different concentrations of sunflower seeds oil 1.3 , 2.6 , 5.2, 10.4 , 20.8, 41.6 , 83.2 and 166.4 μg / ml for different exposure time (24 ,48 and 72 hrs). The results revealed a clear cytotxoic activity of sunflower seeds oil on growth of RD cancer cell line, and the effect was concentration-dependent.
The signification inhibition (P<0.05) was obtained at a concentration of 83.5 and 166.4 μg / ml as compared to control. In addition, the growth of RD cell line was more sensitive to sunflower seeds oil in comparison with the growth of L20B transform cell line. In conclusion, the extrac

Inhibition activity of Saccharomyces boulardii and Lactobacillus acidophilus against pathogenic E.coli isolates from Recurrent Urinary Tract Infection in women In Vitro
...Show More Authors

The aims of study is to detect the inhibitory effect of Saccharomyces boulardii and Lactobacillus acidophilus on Escherichia coli that has been isolated from recurrent urinary tract infection in women. The sensitivity of E.coli isolates to antibiotics had been studied and the most resistant E.coli isolate to antibiotics had been studied .The cup assay was used on nutrient agar and Muller-Hinton agar to detect the inhibitory activity for each S.boulardii yeast grown on YEGP media and L.acidophilus grown on MRS media in which the result showed a high inhibition activity for each of them .Also in this study the adhesion property of E.coli had been evaluated in the presence of S.boulardii at concentration of 1×109 and L.acidophilus at conc

Antifungal Activity of Bioactive Compounds Produced by the Endophytic Fungus Paecilomyces sp. (JN227071.1) against Rhizoctonia solani
...Show More Authors

Biologically active natural compounds are molecules produced by plants or plant-related microbes, such as endophytes. Many of these metabolites have a wide range of antimicrobial activities and other pharmaceutical properties. This study aimed to evaluate (in vitro) the antifungal activities of the secondary metabolites obtained from Paecilomyces sp. against the pathogenic fungus Rhizoctonia solani. The endophytic fungus Paecilomyces was isolated from Moringa oleifera leaves and cultured on potato dextrose broth for the production of the fungal metabolites. The activity of Paecilomyces filtrate against the radial growth of Rhizoctonia solani was tested by mixing the filtrate with potato dextrose agar medium at concentrations of 15%,

Six Bifidobacterium isolates, isolated from breast – feed infant faces on reduced de Man Rogosa and Sharp medium (MRS - C). Isolates identified to species level on the basis of : microscopical properties, biochemical tests, fructose-6-phosphate phosphoketolase enzyme(F6PPK) activity and carbohydrates fermentation profile. Results showed that B. adolescentis was the predominant species (B4,B5and B6),the other species were B. breve(B3),B. longum (B1), B. dentium(B2).
Strains were screened for their inhibitory effects against pathogenic bacteria shiga toxin producing E.coli(STEC)O157:H7 using agar – well diffusion method.B3 and B6 showed clear inhibitory actions toward STEC,22 mm and 15 mm diameter of inhibition zone srespectively. W

The study was conducted to evaluate the antifungal activity of the aqueous and
alcoholic extract and the essential oil of E. incrassata leaves toward some biological
characteristics of the water mold S. ferax. Chemical analysis of the plant leaves using HPLC
showed the content of several active compounds included 1,8-Cineole, Terpineal, Citronellal,
Phellendrene and Citiric acid.
Treatment of the fungus growing on solid media containing different concentrations of
the extracts showed significant gradual decrease in radial growth with the increasing
concentration, and the effect varied with the different extracts.

Evaluation of some bioactive effect of phenolic compounds in Costus speciosus rhizome extract
...Show More Authors

This work was evaluated the antioxidant, antibacterial and cytotoxic activity of Costus speciosus rhizomes methanol extract. The FLC analysis showed the presence of five compounds in the methanol extract of C. speciosus rhizomes. These compounds were Quercetin (5.2mg/ml), Rutin (6.02mg/ml), Luteolin, (18.3mg/ml),
Kaempherol, (11.34mg/ml) and Coumarin (1.41mg/ml). The maximum antioxidant activity of the extract was at concentration 1000 μg/ml with free radical scavenging activity approximately 67.5%. It was less than standard ascorbic acid 85.5% and Gallic acid 90% with significant difference (p≤0.05), with no significant difference
in comparison with standard TBA 68.5%. The IC50 of extract was 3093
