Objective: To assess the role of tumour necrosis factor alpha level and genotyping in susceptibility to leishmaniasis.Method: The case-control study was conducted from March to July 2021 at Baqubah Teaching Hospital, Diyala, Iraq,and comprised patients of cutaneous leishmaniasis in group A and healthy controls in group B. The serum level andsingle nucleotide polymorphisms of tumour necrosis factor-alpha rs41297589 and rs1800629 were compared betweenthe groups. Data was analysed using SPSS 28.Results: Of the 150 subjects, there were 75(50%) in group A; 39(52%) males and 36(48%) females with mean age23.91±13.14 years. The remaining 75(50%) subjects were in group B; 38(50.7%) males and 37(49.3%) females withmean age 22.84±4.35 years.

BACKGROUND: Preeclampsia (PE) is a possible etiology of obstetrical and neonatal complications which are increased in resource-limited settings and developing countries. AIM: We aimed to find out the prevalence of PE in Iraqi ladies and specific outcomes, including gestational weight gain (GWG), cesarean section (CS), preterm delivery (PD), and low birth weight (LBW). METHODS: All singleton pregnant women visiting our tertiary center for delivery were involved over 3 years. PE women were compared with non-PE ladies. The pathogenicity resulting from Staphylococcus aureus infection has remarkable importance as one of the community-associated bacterial infections, due to the virulent ability of these bacteria to produce biofilms. This study was designed to detect biofilm production in clinical isolates from samples of wounds and urinary tract infections. The expression levels of the icaA gene that is responsible of slime layer production in biofilms was compared in isolates with different biofilm producing capabilities. Fifty seven samples that included 32 samples from urine and 25 samples from wounds were collected from Alwasti Hospital, Al-Kindi Teaching Hospital, and Alzahraa Clinic, Baghdad, Iraq.
