    Polycystic ovary syndrome is a very common cause of female infertility. This study aims to assess the prevalence of vitamin D deficiency and its association with clinical and anthropometric characteristics of Iraqi women with and without polycystic ovary syndrome. Fifty eightwomen with the disease and their matched control group were included. Their blood pressure was measured. Serum level of 25 hydroxy vitamin D of <20 ng/mL was graded as vitamin D deficiency. The polycystic ovary syndrome group had significantly lower levels of 25 hydroxy vitamin D, higher body mass index, and higher waist to hip ratio in contrast to the control group. In their cross-sectional study, Al-Rubaye et al studied the extent of vitamin D (VD) deficiency/ insufficiency, factors affecting its degree, and the adverse outcomes of the altered VD status among a group of mothers and their neonates from Baghdad, Iraq. They found that 96.6% of the mothers had VD deficiency/ insufficiency compared to 86.4% in their neonates. Maternal VD levels and neonatal weights were significantly correlated with neonatal VD levels. We believe that the study results need to be revised. A total of 44 normal male & female subjects were included in this study
