Impact of wall movements on the location of passive Earth thrust
...Show More Authors
Abstract<p>The general assumption of linear variation of earth pressures with depth on retaining structures is still controversial; investigations are yet required to determine those distributions of the passive earth pressure (PEP) accurately and deduce the corresponding centroid location. In particular, for rigid retaining walls, the calculation of PEP is strongly dependent on the type of wall movement. This paper presents a numerical analysis for studying the influence of wall movement on the PEP distribution on a rigid retaining wall and the passive earth thrust location. The numerical predictions are remarkably similar to existing experimental works as recorded on scaled test models and full-scale retaining walls. It is observed that the PEP varies linearly with depth for the horizontal translation, but it is nonlinear when the movement is rotational about the top of the retaining wall. When rotation is around the top of the wall, the resultant of PEP is located at a depth that varies between 0.164 and 0.259H of the wall height measured from the base of the wall, which is lesser than 1/3 of the wall height. The passive earth thrust location is highly affected by the soil–wall friction angle, especially when the friction angle of the backfill material increases. Despite the herein presented results, further experiments are recommended to assess the corresponding numerical predictions.</p>

The world is keeping pace with evolution in all its fields as a result of scientists' pursuit of continuous scientific and technological development. This evolution included the sports field, which had a large space in the aspect of development and for all disciplines, Therefore, it's reflected today in what we see of records and advanced achievements in sporting events and activities. The development in the field of sports was the result of scientific research (Hussein and Jawad., 2022), where the interest in the training process has become one of the most important pillars of the development of achievement (Neamah and Altay., 2020). The shooting sport has also witnessed a remarkable development due to the diversity and development of its

The position of the Egyptian public opinion on the Mibi revolution

The study of the subject of (Egyptian public opinion on the Libyan revolution) came to reveal the role of Egyptian public opinion in mobilizing and solidarity for the masses. With the events witnessed by the Arab countries before the revolution, this was evident by the people 's attitudes towards the tripartite aggression against Egypt in 1956, and the June 1967 war, and the most recent what the Egyptian people showed towards the Libyan revolution. The Egyptian press followed the completion of the arms deal with France and revealed the ability of the Libyan negotiator to achieve moral gain, supported by Egyptian support to thwart the United States intentions to arm "Israel" similarly. The Egyptian people expressed a love for peace and su

Nanoparticles of copper sulfide have been prepared by simple reaction between using copper nitrate with different concentrations ratio 0.1, 0.3, and 0.5 mM, thiourea by a simple chemical route. The prepared Nano powders have been deposited onto glass substrates by casting method at 60°C. The structure of the product Nano- films has been studied by x-ray diffraction, where the patterns showed that all the samples have a hexagonal structure of covellite copper sulfide with the average crystalline sizes 14.07- 16.51 nm. The morphology has been examined by atomic force microscopy, and field emission scan electron microscopy. The AFM images showed particles with almost spherical and rod shapes with average diameter sizes of 49.11- 90.64 nm.
