The current study was conducted to find out the effect of the sediment source (sedimentary of Iraqi-Iranian borderline and Tigris River) on the content and distribution of feldspar minerals and their effect on the optical properties of these minerals in some soils of Wasit and Maysan province. Eight pedons were chosen to represent the study area, five of them represented sediments coming from the borderline, which included pedons of (Badra, Taj Al-Din, Al-Shihabi, Jassan, and Galat), while two of them represent the sediments of the Tigris River (Essaouira, Al-Dabouni).   This research studies the effect of grain size for the final stage in sintering Al2O3 .The experimental results for α- Al2O3 powder are modeled using ( L2-Regression ) technique in  order to study the effect grain size distribution on densification rate using four kinds for the initial particle size which were ( 1.44 , 2.54 , 0.7-2.54 ,1.15-3.53 ) µm , and for sintering time  (0-241) min. The mathematical simulation for grain size changing shows that the densification rates boots up as the grain size goes lower, this was due to the increase of contact area between the grains.

Nanoparticles of copper sulfide have been prepared by simple reaction between using copper nitrate with different concentrations ratio 0.1, 0.3, and 0.5 mM, thiourea by a simple chemical route. The prepared Nano powders have been deposited onto glass substrates by casting method at 60°C. The structure of the product Nano- films has been studied by x-ray diffraction, where the patterns showed that all the samples have a hexagonal structure of covellite copper sulfide with the average crystalline sizes 14.07- 16.51 nm. The morphology has been examined by atomic force microscopy, and field emission scan electron microscopy. The AFM images showed particles with almost spherical and rod shapes with average diameter sizes of 49.11- 90.64 nm.
