The Xylocaine Test As A Prognostic Aid For Surgery In Sluder'S Neuralgia

Summary:
Background: Patients with facial pain without any overt disease especially of the nose and paranasal sinuses are often diagnosed as having Sluder's neuralgia. Large middle turbinates or septal deflections compressing the ethmoidal nerves have been regarded as one of the causes of this pain in those who have their sinus computed tomography (CT) clear.
Fac Med Baghdad Objectives: To evaluate the xylocaine test as a prognostic aid for surgical treatment for Sluder's 2007; Vol. 49, No.3 neuralgia.

The relationship between blood group antigens and peptic ulcer disease has been widely evaluated in the past, but only one study relating H pylori seroprevalence to ABO blood groups among Iraqi patients with peptic ulcer disease is available. Toxoplasmosis: Serious disease during pregnancy

Toxoplasmosis is an infection caused by Toxoplasma gondii that leads to abortion or hydrocephalus during pregnancy.One hundered and twenty two aborted women were selected for this study. Serum samples were collected form Al-Kadhmia and Kamal Al-Samari Hospitals,and laboratories around Baghdad, and tested for specific IgG and IgM anti-toxoplasma antibodies to confirm toxoplasmosis in those women by using ELISA test.The result recorded that 51(41.8%) women had antibodies against Toxoplasma gondii, 25(59.5%) women were positive for IgG, and 17(40.5%) women were positive forIgM, while 9(17.6%)women were positive for both.

Salivary magnesium during pregnancy and labor and its relation to gingivitis

Background: Changes in the level of salivary magnesium could be of great clinical interest not only because of its relation with oral health but also with the physiological alteration occurring during pregnancy. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of pregnancy on the salivary magnesium level and their relations to gingivitis.
