A new ligand [N-(4-chlorobenzoyl amino) -thioxomethyl] valine (cbv) is synthesized by reaction of 4- chloro benzoyl iso thio cyanate with valine acid. The ligand is Characterized by elemental analysis ,FT-IR, and 13C 1H NMR spectra, some transition metals complex of this ligand were prepared and Characterized by FTIR , UV-Visible spectra , conductivity measurement's ,magnetic susceptibility , atomic absorption and determination of molar ratio (M:L), from results obtained , the following formula [M(cbv)2] where M+2 =Mn, Fe ,Co , Ni , Cu,Zn,Cd, and Hg and the proposed molecular structure for these complexes as tetrahedral geometry, except copper complex is have square planer geometry

Academic chemical laboratories (ACL) are considered public places  the employees come in contact with a variety of pollutants. The aim of the current study was to detect heavy metals levels in the indoor air of ACL in two universities in Baghdad city and assess their levels in the academic employees’ scalp hair as biomarkers. Air samples inside ACL were collected to detect Fe, Cd, Zn, Pb and Cu. Scalp hair samples were collected from 40 adult chemical laboratory employees aged 30-60 years, who worked 5 days/week for 6 hours a day. 60 cases of Bacteremia were documented at Ibn Al-Baladi hospital during 6 months (1-1-2002 to 1-7-2002), with an incidence of 5.2 were gram-negative organisms and most common one was Salmonella and Klebsiella. Incidence was significantly higher in male than female .Antimicrobial sensitivity tests revealed that isolated bacteria are with multiple drug resistance to commonly used antimicrobial agents. Salmonella showed high resistance to cephaloxin, co-trimoxazole and amoxicillin and also Klebsiella showed resistance to cephaloxin and amoxicillin.
