Echocardiographic Evaluation of the Right Ventricular Function in a Sample of Iraqi Patients with Left Ventricular Dysfunction
...Show More Authors

Background: Assessment of function of the right side of the heart in cases of left ventricular dysfunction has been widely studied but the sensitive and specific echocardiographic parameter to be tested is still a matter of controversy. Right ventricular function is related to left ventricular function by ventricular independence so function of both should be assessed carefully. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of left ventricular systolic dysfunction on right ventricular systolic and diastolic functions and pulmonary pressure using conventional and tissue Doppler echocardiography. Patients and Methods: Sixty patients (39 males and 21 females) with heart failure due to left ventricular systolic dysfunction diagnosed by echocardiography presented to the Baghdad Teaching Hospital and the Iraqi Centre of Heart Diseases were included in this study. The mean age of study patients was 57±11years. Ethical approval was obtained from the ethical committee of college of Medicine/ University of Baghdad. Informed consent was obtained from all patients included in the study. Sinus rhythm and mild to severe left ventricular systolic dysfunction were the inclusion criteria. All patients underwent a standard 2-dimensional and tissue Doppler echocardiography. Results: Of the study patients, 63.3% had abnormal right ventricle myocardial performance index. 35% of the sample have abnormal tricuspid annular plane systolic excursion. Pulmonary artery systolic pressure was elevated in 28.3% of patients. The right ventricular performance index was the most sensitive parameter of right ventricular dysfunction with a sensitivity 100% but the specificity was about 52%, while tricuspid annular plane systolic excursion was less sensitive and more specific than right ventricle myocardial performance index with a sensitivity of 38% and specificity of 84%. Conclusion: The right ventricular function is affected in patients with left ventricular dysfunction. To study right ventricular function; right ventricular myocardial performance index which measure both systolic and diastolic functions is more sensitive than TAPSE which

Evaluating the Clinical Outcomes of Three Medication Regimens for Treating a Sample of Iraqi Persistent Asthmatic patients
...Show More Authors

Abstract

Asthma is a complex disease defined by chronic airway inflammation and airflow limitation causing variable respiratory symptoms which include shortness of breath (SOB), wheezing, chest tightness and cough. Asthma guidelines advocate adding a second long acting bronchodilator to medium doses of inhaled corticosteroids (ICS) rather using high doses of ICS alone to control moderate to severe persistent asthma. The aim of this study was to evaluate the clinical outcomes of three medication regimens indicated for Iraqi patients suffering from persistent asthma.

This study was interventional randomized clinical study conducted on a sample of adult Iraqi asthm

The effect of using Daniel's model for people with two types of brain control (left and right) to learn the skill of the Cartwheel in artistic gymnastics for second-stage students
...Show More Authors

The research problem focused through the researcher's experience in the gymnastics game and the lack of use of educational models that give the student an important role in the educational process, so it became necessary to identify the type of prevailing style for students, and the need for diversity in the use of educational models based on scientific theories, including the Daniel Document model. Based on three theories of learning, which are structural, behavioral, and meaningful learning. The research aimed to identify the effect of using the Daniel model for people with two types of brain control (left and right) to learn the skill of the Cartwheel in artistic gymnastics for students of the second stage. The researcher used the experi

Bronchogenic carcinoma in sample of Iraqi patients, Fiber optic bronchoscope findings
...Show More Authors

Background: Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer deaths and its incidence is rising. The determination of histopathology and stage of primary lung carcinoma is crucial to develop appropriate treatment approach that affects morbidity and mortality. Fiber optic bronchoscope techniques for early detection of lung cancer are a promising tool as they might allow visualizing changes of early lung cancer and also permitting sampling for histological confirmation.
Objective: This study was intended to compare the fiber optic bronchoscopy findings and their anatomical locations with the histopathology types in patients with lung cancer.
Patient and Methods: A cross section study was conducted during the period

Background: Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a preventable disease with some significant extra pulmonary effects that may contribute to the severity in individual patients.. The systemic manifestations  of  COPD  include  a number of endocrine disorders , such  as  those  involving the pituitary, the thyroid , the gonads, the adrenals  and  the pancreas.  The  mechanisms  by which COPD  alters  endocrine function are incompletely understood  but likely involve  hypoxemia , hypercapnia , systemic inflammation and  glucocorticoid  administration.

Evaluation of Oxidative Stress in Iraqi Male Patients with Myocardial Infarction and Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus
...Show More Authors

One of the most prevalent illnesses in developing countries is myocardial infarction (MI), which develops when the heart's blood supply is suddenly interrupted and causes tissue damage. It is connected to several metabolic risk factors, including diabetes, hypertension, and obesity. The objective of this study was to assess how oxidative stress (OS) contributed to the pathophysiology of MI and T2DM. The current study examined 152 male samples, including 52 MI patients without T2DM (G1), 50 MI patients with T2DM (G2), and 50 seemingly healthy men as controls (C). The levels of fasting blood sugar (FBS), C-reactive protein (CRP), total oxidant status (TOS), total antioxidant status (TAS), oxidative stress index (OSI), malondialdeh

Evaluation of the Physical Parameters on Ischemic Heart Disease Patients Using Echocardiography
...Show More Authors

Background: Left ventricular function and volumes have major diagnostic and prognostic importance in patients with various cardiac diseases, such as ischemic heart disease which is a life-threatening heart disease condition characterized by systolic dysfunction and a decrease in cardiac output.

According to left ventricular ejection fraction, the degree of ischemic heart disease was classified as mild, moderate, and severe. To determine cardiac function and hemodynamics, the echocardiography technique is used, which is a noninvasive diagnostic method.

Patients and Methods: The study included 216 patients between 25 and 75 years old; 121 males and 95 females; 265 normal individuals (age range: 25 to 75 years ol
