Background: Laser is a novel physical therapy technique used to treat various conditions, including wound healing, inhibition of bacterial growth, and postoperative wounds. High-power pulsed alexandrite laser therapy is one of the most prevalent forms of laser therapy, which is a noninvasive method for treating various pathological conditions, thereby enhancing functional capacities and quality of life. It is a modern medical and physiotherapeutic technology. Generally, the Alexandrite laser emits infrared light with a wavelength of 755 nm, allowing it to propagate and penetrate tissues. Objective: This study focused on the application of a high-power pulsed alexandrite laser in vitro to evaluate the effect of a pulsed alexandrite laser on antibiotic-resistant bacteria utilizing varying exposure times, pulse durations, and laser fluencies to determine which dose is more effective on S. aureus bacteria. Method: The laser used in this study was the alexandrite laser which was considered a pulsed laser and had the following parameters: The wavelength was 755 nm, the beam diameter was (14 mm), the exposure times varied (30, 60, 90) seconds, the laser fluency (5, 10, 15 and 20 J.Cm-2). The study was carried out after the bacteria were diagnosed as being antibioticresistant. They were exposed to different doses of Alexandrite laser. Three samples of bacteria were exposed to laser beams for 30 seconds with a 5ms pulse duration and with a laser fluency of 5J/cm2, and this process was repeated with laser fluencies of 10, 15, and 20. This procedure was repeated using exposure times of 60sec and 90sec. As well as, this process was repeated by exposure with 30 sec, 60 sec and 90 sec exposure times, 10ms and 20ms pulse durations and with different laser fluencies 5, 10, 15 and 20J/cm2, separately. Results: A significant reduction (p = <0.0001) in the mean values of the colony was observed with the increase of laser fluency doses compared with control at the same pulse duration. A significant reduction (p = <0.0001) in the mean count of the colonies was observed in the comparison between two laser fluences at the same pulse duration. In conclusion, the exposure times, pulse durations and laser fluencies of pulsed alexandrite laser showed an effect on the mean count of the colonies of S aureus bacteria and determined the effective dose. Biofilms formation by pathogens microbial Control considered important in medical research because it is the hazarded virulence factor leading to becoming difficult to treat because of its high resistance to antimicrobials. Glycopeptide antibiotic a (Vancomycin) and the commercial bacteriocin (Nisin A) were used to comparative with purification bacteriocin (MRSAcin) against MRSA biofilm. One hundred food samples were collected from Baghdad markets from July 2016 to September 2016, including (cheese, yogurt, raw milk, fried meat, grilled meat, and beef burger). All samples were cultures; S. aureus was confirmation by macroscopic culture and microscopic examination, in addition to biochemical tests. Methicillin resistance S. asureus (

Show MoreA total of 60 cotton swabs are collected from patients suffering from burn wound and surgical site infections admitted to Baghdad Teaching Hospital and Burn Specialist Hospital in Baghdad city during 9/2013 to 11/2013. All cotton swabs are cultured initially on blood agar and MacConkey agar and subjected for standard bacteriological procedures for bacteriological diagnosis. Twenty samples out of sixty are identified as Pseudomonas aeruginosa by conventional methods. The results of antibiotic susceptibility test illustrate that the antibiotics resistance rate of Pseudomonas aeruginosa isolates is as follows:100% (2020) for ceftriaxone, cefepime and carbencillin, 70% (14/20) for amikacin, 65%(13/20) for tobramycin, ceftazidim and gentamycin,

Show MoreMethicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) is the most common pathogenic bacteria in the hospitals and communities, the ability to form biofilm is considered the main cause of Staphylococcus pathogenicity since it provides resistance to both antibiotics and host immune response, so this study was aimed to evaluate the biofilms formation and its association with antibiotic resistance in clinical isolates of MRSA, in order to achieve this aim, 237 samples were collected from different patients with wounds infections after surgeries and samples from operations galleries from varies hospitals in Baghdad ,68 isolates out of 237 were subjected to Staphylococcus aureus according to conventional meth

Show MoreMRSA is one of the major pathogens in hospitals and the community, which have the ability to produce biofilm as a virulence factor, the impact of chalcone on biofilm formation, the synergism effect of chalcone and antibiotic in both in vitro and in vivo experiments, the gene expression of virulence genes (srtA, fnbA, fnbB) before and after treatment of it on MRSA biofilm cells in vitro, all these were the prime aims of this study. Chalcone at MBIC (20 μg/ml), significantly reduced the biofilm formation to 21.45% and at sub MBIC (15 μg/ml) to 36.58 %. While, Chalcone at MIC(5 μg/ml) reduced MRSA planktonic cells to 49.61%. Susceptibility of MRSA isolates against eight antibiotics showed that all isolates were sensitive to vancomycin and n

Background: one of the complications of power bleaching is surface roughness of enamel which increases the possibility of post bleaching teeth discoloration. The aim of the present study is to evaluate the effect of toothpaste containing nano hydroxyapatite, NovaMin and kin sense fluoride on surface roughness of human tooth enamel after laser bleaching with 35% hydrogen peroxide bleaching gel. Materials and Methods: Twenty human enamel incisors were cleaned and their labial surface polished up to #1200, then categorized into four equal groups; first group kept without bleaching as a control group, while the remaining three experimental groups were bleached with 35% hydrogen peroxide, and each group treated with a restore paste containing o

The effect of the laser depends on many factors, one of the laser factors was the wavelength. The red wavelength band has been considered as a stimulated wavelength for prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells. In this study, three clinical species of Gram-negative bacteria (E. coli, Proteus mirabilis, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa) were exposed to 650 nm band of red region wavelength by a diode laser. The effect of that wavelength appeared on the growth curves for each species along 3 days after laser treatment. The energy density (E.D.) 2.8 J/cm2 gave a positive effect on grow
