This study was planned to compare some of the soft tissue measurements inindividuals with skeletal Cl I and Cl III, to find out the measurements which may beused as a clinical diagnostic aid to discriminate between both skeletal classes.Seventy three digital true lateral cephalometric radiographs of Iraqi adults weredivided according to the ANB angle into 38 skeletal Cl I and 35 Cl III. The soft tissuemeasurements were analyzed using AutoCAD (2007) software computer program.Descriptive statistics were used to describe the measurements, while independentsamples t-test was used to rule out gender differences and skeletal class differences.Gender differences were found significantly in skeletal Cl I for all linearmeasurements; while in Cl III the significant differences were limited to theanteropoterior measurements only (modified profile thickness at upper lip, modifiedprofile thickness at lower lip, upper lip thickness, and lower lip thickness), with nonsignificant difference for vertical linear measurements (upper and lower Lip heightand Mouth height). All angular measurements showed non-significant genderdifferences. Independent samples t-test revealed that the main differences betweenclasses were found in the labiomental and soft tissue profile angles, which weresignificantly higher in Cl III than Cl I, while the modified profile thickness at upperlip was significantly higher in Cl I than Cl III, for both genders and for the totalsample. Lower lip height, mouth height, and the upper lip height also showedsignificant differences between classes but with less importance. The labiomental angle and modified profile thickness at upper lip can be used asdiagnostic aids to discriminate whether the subject has a Cl I or Cl III skeletalrelation.
COVID-19 is a coronavirus disease caused by the severe acute respiratory syndrome. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) was responsible for 87,747,940 recorded infections and 1,891,352 confirmed deaths as of January 9, 2021. Antibodies that target the Sprotein are efficient in neutralizing the virus. Methodology: 180 samples were collected from clinical sources (Blood and Nasopharyngeal swabs) and from different ages and genders at diverse hospitals in Baghdad / IRAQ between November 5, 2021, to January 20, 2022. All samples were confirmed infected with COVID-19 disease by RT-PCR technique. Haematology analysis and blood group were done for all samples, and Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay used an Ig

Laurylamine hydrochloride CH3(CH2)11 NH3 – Cl has been chosen from cationic surfactants to produce secondary oil using lab. model shown in fig. (1). The relationship between interfacial tension and (temperature, salinity and solution concentration) have been studied as shown in fig. (2, 3, 4) respectively. The optimum values of these three variables are taken (those values that give the lowest interfacial tension). Saturation, permeability and porosity are measured in the lab. The primary oil recovery was displaced by water injection until no more oil can be obtained, then laurylamine chloride is injected as a secondary oil recovery. The total oil recovery is 96.6% or 88.8% of the residual oil has been recovered by this technique as shown

Show MoreIntroduction: This study aimed to investigate sex differences in age-related changes to the dentoskeletal and soft tissue profile between 12-62 years of age using a superimposition-based cephalometric method. Methods: A total of 60 subjects (27 males and 33 females) were followed longitudinally. Lateral cephalograms were obtained at ages 12 (T1), 15 (T2), 30 (T3), and 62 (T4). Of note, 46 angular and linear cephalometric variables were measured using a cranial base-registered superimposition method that corrected for age-related displacement of the Nasion and Sella landmarks. Sex differences in changes between time points were analyzed using independent-samples t tests. Results: During adolescence (12-15 years of age), males exhibited great

This study aimed to test the effect of orthodontic treatment in improvement the facial esthetics. Materials and Methods: Ten Iraqi Arab females having bimaxillary protrusion based on Class I malocclusions treated with fixed orthodontic appliance and extraction of the maxillary and mandibular 1st permanent premolars. Pre and post-treatment facial profile photographs were taken for each patients and the effect of treatment was tested in comparison with the pre-treatment photographs by using seven angular measurements. Results: After treatment, the upper and lower lip projections were decreased signifi

The aim was to establish the maxillary and mandibular dental arches width and length in skeletal and dental class II division 1 and class III malocclusion groups, find out the most frequent dental arch form and facial type and the association between them and to check the gender differences. Materials and Methods: Frontal and lateral facial photographs and maxillary and mandibular occlussal photographs for 90 iraqi subjects with age 18-25 years old (45 males and 45 females) divided equally into three groups, the 1st group with class II division 1malocclusion (overjet more than 3mm but less t

Materials and methods: Forty dental students (20 males and 20 females) were selected under certain criteria. For those individuals, dental impressions, frontal facial photographs and maximum bite force at molar and incisor regions were taken. The dental arches widths and facial dimensions were measured using the AutoCAD program 2007, while the bite force was determined using special device. Descriptive statistics for the measured variables were performed and gender difference was determined using independent sample t-test, while the rel

The purpose of this study is to search for the statistical associations between natural postural and craniofacial morphologic variables of the head. Materials and methods: The sample comprised natural head posture (NHP) cephalograms of 90 subjects, aged 18 to 25 years. Interpretation of the facial structure was made by using both intracranial and the extra-cranial reference lines in AutoCAD computer program. Results The measures of anteroposterior maxillary position, SNA showed a low negative correlations with the anterior cranial base angulation to true vertical (SN.Ver) and with the cranio-cervical position of the head

The aim of this study was to quantify the dento-alveolar compensation during puberty and adulthood for patients having moderate-severe skeletal class III malocclusion and to assess their treatment requirements. True lateral radiographs have been taken for 24 adolescent and 30 adult Iraqi orthodontic patients, followed by their cephalometric analysis. The results showed that the amount of dento-alveolar compensation differs between the maxilla and the mandible in both of the sample groups, and that the compensation becomes more marked during adulthood than during adolescence. It has been concl
