This study investigates the influence of five nanomaterials nano-alumina (NA), nano-silica (NS), nano-titanium (NT), nano-zinc oxide (NZ), and carbon nanotubes (CNT)on enhancing the fatigue resistance of asphalt binders. NA, NS, and NT were incorporated at dosages of 2%, 4%, 6%, 8%, and 10%, while NZ and CNT were added at 1%, 2%, 3%, 4%, and 5%. A series of physical, rheological, and performance-based tests were conducted, including penetration, softening point, ductility, and rotational viscosity. Based on the outcomes of the overall desirability evaluation, the first three dosages of each nanomaterial were selected for further testing due to their superior workability and binder flexibility. Subsequent investigations included the high-temperature performance grade, fatigue parameter (G*.sin δ), Linear Amplitude Sweep (LAS), and IDEAL-CT test integrated with Digital Image Correlation (DIC). The results confirmed that nanomaterial modification significantly enhanced asphalt binder performance, though the effectiveness varied with type and dosage. Physical tests demonstrated improved stiffness, softening point, and reduced temperature susceptibility, with slight ductility losses at higher dosages. Rotational viscosity analysis indicated that low-to-moderate contents ensured workability excluding high CNT dosages which exceeded Superpave limits. High-temperature PG improved notably with NS, NZ, and CNT, while NA and NT showed limited gains. Fatigue parameter results (G*.sin δ) identified NA and NT as the most consistent in reducing cracking susceptibility. LAS testing confirmed superior fatigue lives at optimal dosages of 6% NA, 6% NT, 2% NS, 2% CNT, and 1% NZ, while higher concentrations often caused agglomeration and performance decline. IDEAL-CT and DIC analyses validated these findings by demonstrating increased fracture energy, CT index, and more uniform strain distributions in nano-modified mixtures compared to neat asphalt. FTIR spectra confirmed reduced oxidative aging most prominently with NT and NA while SEM revealed enhanced microstructural cohesion and reduced surface defects. The integration of the Overall Desirability (OD) framework confirmed NT-6 as the most effective dosage, followed by NZ-1 and NS-2, while higher dosages often led to poor compatibility and performance decline. Complementary cost–effectiveness analysis further demonstrated that lower dosages of NZ, NT, and NS achieved the best balance between technical performance and economic viability, whereas excessive CNT and NT contents were not recommended due to unfavorable cost-to-performance ratios. These findings highlight that dosage optimization is critical for translating nanomaterial benefits into practical pavement engineering applications, ensuring enhanced durability with rational investment of resources.
Survival analysis is widely applied to data that described by the length of time until the occurrence of an event under interest such as death or other important events. The purpose of this paper is to use the dynamic methodology which provides a flexible method, especially in the analysis of discrete survival time, to estimate the effect of covariate variables through time in the survival analysis on dialysis patients with kidney failure until death occurs. Where the estimations process is completely based on the Bayes approach by using two estimation methods: the maximum A Posterior (MAP) involved with Iteratively Weighted Kalman Filter Smoothing (IWKFS) and in combination with the Expectation Maximization (EM) algorithm. While the other

Show MoreIn this research, the use of natural materials like wool and cannabis as intermediate reinforcement for prosthetic limbs due to their comfort, affordability, and local availability was discussed. As part of this study on below-the-knee (BK) prosthetic sockets, two sets of samples were made using a vacuum method. These sets were made of natural fiber-reinforced polymer composites with lamination 80:20: group (Y) had 4 perlon, 1 wool 4 perlon, and group (G) had 4 perlon, 1 cannabis 4 perlon. The two groups were compared with a socket made of polypropylene. Tensile testing was used to determine the mechanical characteristics of the socket materials. The Y group has a yield stress of 17 MPs, an ultimate strength of 18.75 MPa, and an elastic

It is easy to characterize each asphalt layer with different tests to give a full description of that layer; however, the performance of the whole; asphalt structure needs to be properly understood. Typically, pavement analysis is carried out using multi-layer linear elastic assumptions, via equations and computer programs such as KENPAVE, BISAR, etc. These types of analysis give the response parameters including stress, strain, and deflection at any point under the wheel load. This paper aims to estimate the equivalent Resilient Modulus (MR) of the asphalt concrete

The production of warm asphalt mixtures using recycled pavements produces economic and environmentally friendly mixtures, which is the most important advantage of this work. This research aims to determine the effect of recycled asphalt concrete (RAP) on the indirect tensile strength of warm asphalt mixtures and Marshall Properties. Models of warm asphalt mixtures using Aggregate from the Al-Nibaay quarry, Asphalt with a degree of penetration (40-50) from the refinery of the cycle, and obtained Recycled asphalt concrete from Salah Al-Din Road, Al-Ameriya area in Baghdad are prepared. Show MoreThis research deals with a shrinking method concernes with the principal components similar to that one which used in the multiple regression “Least Absolute Shrinkage and Selection: LASS”. The goal here is to make an uncorrelated linear combinations from only a subset of explanatory variables that may have a multicollinearity problem instead taking the whole number say, (K) of them. This shrinkage will force some coefficients to equal zero, after making some restriction on them by some "tuning parameter" say, (t) which balances the bias and variance amount from side, and doesn't exceed the acceptable percent explained variance of these components. This had been shown by MSE criterion in the regression case and the percent explained v

The difference is that the design structure of porous pavements allows the free passage of fluids through their layers, which controls or reduces the amount of runoff or water accumulated in the area by allowing the flow of rain and surface runoff. The cross-structure of this type of paving works as a suitable method for managing rainwater and representing groundwater recharge. The overall benefits of porous asphalt pavements include environmental services and safety features, including controlling the build-up of contaminated metals on the road surface, rainwater management, resistance to slipping ac

The advantages of the reinforcement concrete beams with multiple opening are mainly, practical benefit including decreasing the floor heights due to passage of the utilities through the beam rather than the passage beneath it, and constructional benefit that includes the reduction of the self-weight of structure resulting due to the reduction of the dead load that achieves economic design. To optimize beam self-weight with its ultimate resistance capacity, ten reinforced concrete beams having a length, width, and depth of 2700, 100, and
