Pultruded materials made of Fiber-Reinforced Polymer (FRP) come in a broad range of shapes, such as bars, I-sections, C-sections, etc. FRP materials are starting to compete with steel as structural materials owing to their great resistance, low self-weight, and cheap maintenance costs, especially in corrosive conditions. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of a novel concrete Composite Column (CC) using Encased I-Section (EIS) as a reinforcement in contrast to traditional steel bars by using Glass Fiber-Reinforced Polymer (GFRP) as I-section (CC-EIS) to evaluate the effectiveness of the hybrid columns which have been built by combining GFRP profiles with concrete columns. To achieve the aims of this study, nine circular columns with a diameter of 150 mm and a height of 1000 mm were cast with compression strength equal to 42.4 MPa at the test day. The research involved three different types of reinforcement: Hybrid circular columns with GFRP I-section and 1% reinforcement ratio of steel bars, Hybrid circular columns with steel I-section and 1% reinforcement ratio of steel bars (the cross-section area of the I-section was the same for GFRP and for steel), and a reference column without an I-section. This study investigates the ultimate capacity, axial and lateral deformation, and failure mode of the circular columns under different loading conditions: concentric, eccentric (with eccentricities of 25 mm), and flexural loading. The results showed that the ultimate capacity of the composite columns using either encased steel I-section or GFRP I-section was higher than the traditional columns under all loading conditions. The concentric tested specimens, with steel I-section and with GFRP I-section, exceeded the ultimate strength of the reference specimen by 8.9% and 2.9%, respectively. Specimens with steel I-section and GFRP I-section achieved 11.9% and 9.7% higher ultimate strength than the reference specimens under a compression load of 25 mm eccentricity. Specimens with steel I-section and the specimens with GFRP I-section achieved ultimate strengths of 114.3% and 36.6% under flexural loading testing.
Background: Silymarin is a polyphenolic flavonoid
derived from milk thistle (Silybum marianum) that has
anti-inflammatory, cytoprotective, anticarcinogenic
and antioxidant effects. It has been used medicinally
to treat liver disorders including acute and chronic
viral hepatitis, toxin/drug induced hepatitis, and
alcoholic liver disease.
Objective: To evaluate the antinociceptive effect of
silymarin in experimental animal model of pain.
Methods: The efficacy and dose response effect of
silymarin (125, 250, and 500mg/kg) were assessed
against control using tail flick test in mice as a model
of nociceptive pain. In this model, all doses of
silymarin were given intraperitoneally 15 min before

The study aimed to survey mushroom species from fields among herbs, palm trunks, and trees in central Iraq and to identify them on the basis of morphological and molecular characteristics. As a molecular identification result with polymerase chain reaction six species were recorded (with eight isolates): Agaricus bitorquis (Quéllt) Saccardo. 1887 (SHA14); Candolleomyces candolleanus (Fr.) D. Wächter & Melzer, 2020 (SHA15); Cyclocybe cylindracea (D.C.) Vizzini & Angelini, 2014 (SHA13); Leucoagaricus hesperius Vellinga, 2010 (SHA16); Volvariella sp. (SHA17), and Volvopluteus gloiocephalus (D. C.) Vizzini, Contu & Justo, 2011 (SHA10, SHA101 and SHA12), belonging to four families of Basidiomycetes: Agaricaceae, Pluteaceae,

Green tea (Camellia sinensis) and other natural plant products have been of interest for their ability to modify antibiotic susceptibility of bacteria, a capacity largely attributed to bioactive polyphenols. Objective: The purpose of this work was to investigate in vitro the potential effect of green tea leaf ethanol extract on the antibiotic susceptibility of E. coli isolates. Materials and Methods: Green tea leaves was extracted using ethanol and re-dissolved 1% DMSO. Five concentrations of green tea leaves ethanol extract 0.60, 0.50, 0.30, 0.16 and 0

Show MoreThese days, the world is facing a global environmental and sustainability problem due to the increasing generation of large amounts of waste through construction and demolition work, which causes a serious problem for the environment. Therefore, this research was conducted to get rid of the waste disposal problems, including old glass and concrete, which were used as recycled fine aggregates. Seven different mixtures were prepared. The first mixture was with the used sand, which is glass sand, and it was adopted as a reference mixture (ORPC), and three mixtures were prepared for each of the recycled materials (waste concrete and glass) and partially replaced by glass sand in different proportions (25, 50, and 75) %. There is no specific information about studying this bacterium in local rabbits. Hypothesis: The present study was based on Bacteriological and Histopathological changes in the trachea and lung of local rabbits after Samples were collected from 50 unhealthy animals that appear to be suffering from respiratory signs. Aim: To study the bacteria that were isolated for the first time from sheep suffering from respiratory infections, and diagnose them through Vitk2. Methods: We injected them into a group of local rabbits and studied the histopathological changes in the trachea and lungs. d

surface and underground structures. The procedure for measuring this rock strength has been
standardized by both the International Society for Rock Mechanics (ISRM) and American Society
for Testing and Materials (ASTM), Akram and Bakar(2007).
In this paper, an experimental study was performed to correlate of Point Load Index ( Is(50))
and Pulse Wave Velocity (Vp) to the Unconfined Compressive Strength (UCS) of Rocks. The effect
of several parameters was studied. Point load test, Unconfined Compressive Strength (UCS) and
Pulse Wave Velocity (Vp) were used for testing several rock samples with different diameters.
