     Pseudomonas aeruginosa is an opportunistic pathogen. Quorum sensing (QS) is one of processes that are responsible for biofilm formation. P. aeruginosa can live in different environments, some of which are pathogenic (clinical isolates) and some that are found outside the body (environmental isolates). The present study aimed to determine the presence of a number of genes responsible for QS in clinical and environmental isolates of P. aeruginosa. The research was designed to examine the relationship between the pvc genes expression and cupB gene, which plays a crucial role in the development of biofilm, and rhlR, which regulates the expression of biofilm-related genes, and to investigate whether the pvc genes form one or two operons. Presents here in the results of comparison between the theoretical equation stated by Huang and Menq and laboratory model tests used to study the bearing capacity of square footing on geogrid-reinforced loose sand by performing model tests. The effects of several parameters were studied in order to study the general behavior of improving the soil by using the geogrid. These parameters include depth of first layer of reinforcement, vertical spacing of reinforcement layers, number of reinforcement layers and types of reinforcement layers The results show that the theoretical equation can be used to estimate the bearing capacity of loose sand.
