Characterization of Cr2O3 Nanoparticles Prepared Using Cauliflower Extract by Two Methods
...Show More Authors

Chromium oxide nanoparticles were synthesized using cauliflower extract by two methods: simple chemical method and the sol-gel method. These technologies are  new, environmentally friendly and cheap. Cauliflower contains plant materials and biomolecules (chromium, phenols, alkalis, vitamins, amino acids, quinones, etc. (that convert chromium chloride hexahydrate (CrCl3.6H2O) into chromium nanoparticles. The plant extracts also act as diluents, stabilizers and anti-caking agents. X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis showed that the size of the crystals decreased from (36.1 to 57.8) nm  using the simple chemical method to (13.31 to 20.68) nm of Cr2O3 using sol-gel.

Adsorption of Anionic Dye from Equeous Solution by Modified Synthetic Zeolite
...Show More Authors

The adsorption of Congo red (CR) dye on modified synthetic zeolite 5A  , the general name of which is Linde Type A (LTA)which is modified by amino mercepto thiadiazole (AMT)  and have been characterized  by using fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) , x-ray diffraction (XRD) spectroscopies, atomic force microscopy (AFM) and scanning electron microscope (SEM) analysis. In this work Modified zeolite was utilized as adsorbent to remove (CR) dye from aqueous solution by adsorption. Batch experiments were conducted to study the effects contact time , initial concentration of adsorbate and temperature on dye adsorption. The equilibrium adsorption data were analyzed by using several isotherm models ( Freu

Protective Effect of Vitamin A against Oxidative Stress Caused by Methotrexate
...Show More Authors

Methotrexate (MTX), a folate antagonist agent, is mainly used in treatment of malignant tumors and autoimmune diseases. The present study was undertaken to determine whether antioxidant vitamin (vitamin A) could ameliorate methotrexate induced oxidative stress in male rabbits. Twenty male rabbits were randomly assigned into four groups. Group 1: control group, Group 2: MTX-treated group (received 20 mg/kg MTX intraperitoneally), Group 3: Vit.A treated group received 5000 IU Vit.A orally) and Group 4: MTX+Vit.A treated group received MTX 20 mg/kg plus 5000 IU vit.A). After 4 weeks of treatment, blood samples were collected by cardiac puncture to determine the serum malondialdehyde (MDA), as a good indicator for lipid peroxidation and

H2S gas sensitivity of PAni nano fibers synthesized by hydrothermal method
...Show More Authors

In this work, PAni nanofibers (NFs) are successfully synthesized via hydrothermal method. The structural, surface morphological, optical, electrical and H2S gas sensing properties have been investigated for PAni thin films deposited by spin coating technique. The XRD pattern reveals crystalline nature of PAni NFs with crystallite size of 9.2 nm. The SEM image of Polyaniline clearly indicates that the polymer possesses nanofiber like structure. The optical properties show that the optical energy gap follows allowed direct electronic transition calculated using Tauc’s equation. Intense hotoluminescence (PL) peaks at 309, 340 and 605 nm are observed. The electrical properties such as D.C. conductivity and Hall effect have been studied wher

Enhancement the photosensitivity of PVA NFs/Si prepared by electrospinning technique
...Show More Authors

This work aimed PVA nanofibers in a range of concentrations were successfully manufactured via electrospinning. PVA NFs/Si was effectively prepared using the electrospinning process. The structural, morphological, optical and electrical properties of the prepared PVA were studied using XRD, FE-SEM, UV-Vis spectrophotometer and I-V characteristics, respectively. The amorphous structure of PVA nanofibers was observed. The optical energy gap from ultraviolet to visible was between (2.75 and 2.41) eV, making this compound highly sensitive to visible orange light at 610 nm, with a photosensitivity of 66%. The optical energy gap of PVA/Si heterojunction was utilized to modify this film from the UV to the visible spectrum. As show in the results,

Biological and chemical Study to evaluate the types of water used for drinking in the Al-youssiffiyah area and its effect on public health
...Show More Authors

Election study included four sites for the waters in area of Youssifiyah south of Baghdad (river water, tank water, liquefactions water, and water filtrate and seethed and purifier by alum and chloride), the samples were collected during the month of June in 2007. Temperature, electrical conductivity and acidity are measured. Also , the concentration of chloride , sulphate , carbonate , nitrate , sodium , calcium , magnesium , hard total and total dissolved substances are determined , as well as heavy metals assess environmental risk (such as Cu, Pb, Zn, Fe). It was also a study of bacterial totals included both total Bacteria (TB) and Total Coliform Bacteria (TC) and Fecal Coliform (FC) and Fecal Streptococci (FS). The stu

Field experiment was carried out during 2013- 2014 at the research field of the
Department of Biology, College of Science, Baghdad University, to study the
effect of bio-chemical fertilizers and chemical fertilizers on some agronomic traits
and yield components of two wheat cultivars (IPA99 and Rabyaa) under drought
stress conditions. The bio-chemical fertilizers were mixture of (Azotobacter
chroococcum. Azospirillum brasilense. and Pseudomonas fluorescens.) with
chemical fertilizers (only 50% of the recommended dosage of N and P), while the
chemical fertilizers was 100% of recommended dosage of N and P. Field plots
(1×1 m) were randomly made in the field equipped with rainfall shelter to avoid
rains. Grains o

The Efficiency of Apple Vinegar as A Solvent in Comparison to Water and Ethanol for The Extraction of Some Plants used Against Candida Spp. Biofilm Formation
...Show More Authors

Apple vinegar has many uses that include burn and wound healing and as an antimicrobial agent against different microorganisms, but not as a solvent. Therefore, this study aimed to use commercial apple vinegar as solvent to the plants of  roselle (Hibiscus sabdariffa), green tea (Camellia sinensis), and clove (Syzygium aromaticum). The effects of apple-vinegar extracts of these plants were compared with those of aqueous and ethanolic extracts against biofilm formation by Candida genus. Clove vinegar extract demonstrated antibiofilm activity against C. albicans, alone (2.4907± 0.382) or in combination with the antifungal agents fluconazole (1.689±0.33), nystati
