DISPERSIVE LIQUID LIQUID MICRO EXTRACTION SPECTROPHOTOMETRIC DETERMINATION OF TELMESARTAN AND IRBESARTAN IN PHARMACEUTICALS SAMPLES: DISPERSIVE LIQUID LIQUID MICRO EXTRACTION SPECTROPHOTOMETRIC DETERMINATION OF TELMESARTAN AND IRBESARTAN IN PHARMACEUTICALS SAMPLES
...Show More Authors

The current work is characterized by simplicity, accuracy and high sensitivity Dispersive liquid - Liquid Micro Extraction (DLLME). The method was developed to determine Telmesartan (TEL) and Irbesartan (IRB) in the standard and pharmaceutical composition. Telmesartan and Irbesartan are separated prior to treatment with Eriochrom black T as a reagent and formation ion pair reaction dye. The analytical results of DLLME method for linearity range (0.2- 6.0) mg /L for both drugs, molar absorptivity were (1.67 × 105-    5.6 × 105) L/ mole. cm, limit of detection were (0.0242and0.0238), Limit of quantification were (0.0821and0.0711), the Distribution coefficient were

Directional fluctuating asymmetry in certain morphological characters as a pollution indicator: Tigris catfish (<i>Silurus triostegus</i>) collected from the Euphrates, Tigris, and Shatt al-Arab Rivers in Iraq
...Show More Authors
Abstract<p>The relationship between pollution levels in river sediment and fluctuating asymmetry of resident silurid fish species, Silurus triostegus Heckel, was assessed. Eight bilateral body proportions were analyzed in 1,500 fish from eight river locations. Sediment pollution was measured based on the analysis of heavy metals (Cd, Cr, Cu, Ni, Pb and Zn) and organochlorine pesticides (DDT, DDD, DDE, chlordane, dieldrin, and lindane). The mean quotient approach (mERMq) was used to characterize sediment toxicity, which ranged from low to moderate levels for heavy metals and from low to severe for organochlorides. Variation was noted in the measurements of fish body mor</p> ... Show More

Parasitological investigation of piscivorous birds in Al-Hammar marsh south of Iraq during December-February 2004 and December 2005 were revealed that water birds infected with five nematode species, which belong to three different superfamilies, Desmidocercella numidica (Seurat, 1920) (Superfamily: Aproctoidea) from three piscivorous birds including Grey heron Ardea cinerea, Bittern Botaurusstellaris, and small white heron Ardeola ralloides; Avioserpens sp. 1 and Avioserpens sp. 2 (Superfamily: Dracunculoidea) from small bittern Ixobrychus minutus and black glossy ibis Plegadisfalcinellus respectively; Baruscapillaria sp. and Baruscapillarinae gen. sp. Hydrochemistry and water quality of shallow groundwater in the Tikrit area of Salah Al Din Province, Iraq
...Show More Authors
Abstract<p>Salah Al-Din Provence is an active agriculture and population region. One of its primary water sources is groundwater, which suffers from a lack of information regarding water quality and hydrochemistry. In order to study those missing variables, 27 samples from wells of shallow tubes were collected for analyzing the relevant physicochemical indices that help to produce the Schoeller index, Piper diagram, and Gibbs plot. Piper diagram revealed a hydrochemistry behavior of different values along with the groundwater samples. The chemistry of wells was controlled primarily by the evaporation process according to the Gibbs plot. The values of the Schoeller index of the studied samples stated that 59% of</p> ... Show More

A STUDY OF PHYSICAL AND ANATOMICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF THE HEAVY METAL ACCUMULATION OF JUNCUS RIGIDUS DESFONTAINES, 1798 (FAMILY, JUNCACEAE) IN BASRAH PROVINCE, SOUTHEREN OF IRAQ
...Show More Authors

This study was carried out to determine the heavy metal accumulation of Juncus rigidus Desfontaines, 1798 from three different regions of the Basrah Province in Southern of Iraq. Specifically, the concentrations of lead, nickel, and cadmium were determined in the roots, culms and leaves of the plant. The results indicated that the highest accumulation of the heavy metal was recorded in lead (Pb) 12.50± 3.58 mg kg-1and then in nickel (< 0.30). The lowest value was recorded for cadmium (< 0.05). As well, lead concentrations in J. rigidus varied in different locations and parts of the plant from undetectable in control to 12.66, 19.33, and 9.80 mg kg-1 in leaves, culm, and roots respective
