The paper tries to explore the grammatical phenomenon of rankshift in Systemic Grammar, a functional grammar that establishes five units or the rank scale , : namely sentence, clause phrase, word and morpheme .Rankshift a Hallidayan term , occurs when a given unit is downgraded or shifted down the rank scale and operates further down its rank or a rank equal to itself as when a clause which has to operate in sentence structure operates at q “ qualifier” in a nominal group. The paper , quite significantly, introduces the systemic background that enunciates the systemic theory whose organising concept system rather than structure. The paper then, grammatically explores rankshifted elements, successive rankshifting, degrees of rankshifting and types of rankshift .It ends with some concluding manifestations that serve to highlight the importance and necessity of this downgraded process.

A low speed open circuit wind tunnel has been designed, manufactured and constructed at the Mechanical Engineering Department at Baghdad University - College of Engineering. The work is one of the pioneer projects adapted by the R & D Office at the Iraqi MOHESR. The present paper describes the first part of the work; that is the design calculations, simulation and construction. It will be followed by a second part that describes testing and calibration of the tunnel. The proposed wind tunnel has a test section with cross sectional area of (0.7 x 0.7 m2) and length of (1.5 m). The maximum speed is about (70 m/s) with empty test section. The contraction ratio is (8.16). Three screens are used to minimize flow disturbances in the test section.

PATIENTS AND METHODS: A cross-sectional study was conducted on 83 Iraqi patients with ankylosing spondylitis. Clinical and laboratory evaluations were reported. The adsorption of Cr (VI) from aqueous solution by spent tea leaves (STL) was studied at different initial Cr (VI) concentrations, adsorbent dose, pH and contact time under batch isotherm experiments The adsorption experiments were carried out at 30°C and the effects of the four parameters on chromium uptake to establish a mathematical model description percentage removal of Cr (VI).
