The paper tries to explore the grammatical phenomenon of rankshift in Systemic Grammar, a functional grammar that establishes five units or the rank scale , : namely sentence, clause phrase, word and morpheme .Rankshift a Hallidayan term , occurs when a given unit is downgraded or shifted down the rank scale and operates further down its rank or a rank equal to itself as when a clause which has to operate in sentence structure operates at q “ qualifier” in a nominal group. The paper , quite significantly, introduces the systemic background that enunciates the systemic theory whose organising concept system rather than structure. The paper then, grammatically explores rankshifted elements, successive rankshifting, degrees of rankshifting and types of rankshift .It ends with some concluding manifestations that serve to highlight the importance and necessity of this downgraded process.
A case–control study (80 patients with chronic hepatitis B virus [HBV] infection and 96 controls) was performed to evaluate the association of an IL12A gene variant (rs582537 A/C/G) with HBV infection. Allele G showed a signifcantly lower frequency in patients compared to controls (31.2 vs. 46.9%; probability [p]=0.009; corrected p [pc]=0.027) and was associated with a lower risk of HBV infection (odds ratio [OR]=0.49; 95% confdence interval [CI]=0.29–0.83). ... Show MoreAromatic Schiff-bases are known to have antibacterial activity, but most of these compounds are sparingly soluble in water. The present work describes the synthesis of new Schiff-bases derived from branched aminosugars. Treatment of 3-Amino-3-Cyano-3-Deoxy-1,2:5,6-Di-O-Isopropylene-α-D-Allofuranose (1) with the aldehydes (2) under reflux in methanol afforded the Schiff-bases (3) in good yields. The new Schiff-bases were in accord with their NMR, IR spectral data and elemental analysis.

New chelating ligand derived from triazole and its complexes with metal ions Rhodium, Platinum and Gold were synthesized. Through a copper (I)-catalyzed click reaction, the ligand produced 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition between 2,6-bis((prop-2-yn-1-yloxy) methyl) pyridine and 1-azidododecane.
