Role of Streptococcus mutants Biofilm in Dental Caries
...Show More Authors
Abstract<p>Dental caries is a common chronic disease affecting tooth of many subjects at different ages due to biofilm-mediated oral bacterial infection. Streptococcus mutans is regarded as a pivotal cariogenic bacterium responsible for dental caries and plaque formation. It produces exopolysaccharides on the surface of the tooth promoting the colonization of cariogenic bacteria and dental biofilm development. Formation of this biofilm can be prevented by using different antimicrobial agents such as BlueM mouthwash, polypyrrole, natural flavonoids, and endocannabinoid anandamide.</p>

Gastro oesophageal reflux disease is due to involuntary gastric contents reflux into the esophagus from stomach, causing heartburn and acid regurgitation symptoms. Genetic and environmental factors are important factors in the causation of disease. Human Leukocyte antigens considered as an excellent marker for population genetics analysis and disease association. This study aimed to investigate the association between HLA-DRB1-DQB1 haplotype that inherited in linkage and its association with gastro oesophageal reflux disease (GERD). Patients and healthy controls were prospectively recruited from gastrocolonoscope unit at Al-Kindy Teaching Hospital (Baghdad-Iraq) between January and July 2016. Potential role of periodontal pathogens in compromising epithelial barrier function by inducing epithelial‐mesenchymal transition
...Show More Authors
Background and Objective

Epithelial‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) is a process by which epithelial cells acquire a mesenchymal‐like phenotype and this may be induced by exposure to gram‐negative bacteria. It has been proposed that EMT is responsible for compromising epithelial barrier function in the pathogenesis of several diseases. However, the possible role of EMT in the pathogenesis of periodontitis has not previously been investigated. The aim of this study therefore was to investigate whether gram‐negati

Gastroprotective and Immuno-supportive Role of Alcea kurdica against Stress Induced Lesion in Japanese Quails
...Show More Authors

The conducted research was done in Grda rasha field (Salahaddin University) for one month to compare the impacts of Alcea kurdica powder, Rifaxmine, and Ranitidine as anti-lesion and immune-strengthening agents on stress-induced quails which are affecting their growth rate and in severe cases causing gizzard erosion and deep intestinal lesions. To do that, 75 quails (12 weeks old) were grouped into six treatments with different additives. (T0-) = Negative control (Stress-induced Without treatment), (T0+) = Positive control (No stress inducing or treatment). T1= (treated with Rifaximine 200mg/L water mixed), T2= (treated with Ranitidine 200mg/L), T3= (treated with A.kurdica extract 100mg/L). The tested groups,

The role of prophylactic antibiotics in compound facial fractures treated by closed and open reduction

Background: The role of prophylactic antibiotics remains controversial. It is clear that actively facial fractures are considered as clean contaminated and should be treated with therapeutic antibiotics; however, there is widespread variability in the use, type, timing, and duration of prophylactic antibiotic administrated in practice today. There is an adverse effect of increased antibiotic resistance, as well as costs, it is important to review the current evidence for the role of prophylactic antibiotics in compound facial fractures. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the role and significance of preoperative, perioperative and postoperative antibiotic prophylaxis for patients when there is already an infective focus, such as co

The Role of Artificial Intelligence in Studying the Impact of Contemporary Revolutions on Political Systems in the Middle East
...Show More Authors

In this study, we tackle the understudied area of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its role in examining how modern revolutions may affect political systems across the Middle Eastern region. despite hundreds of studies documenting Middle Eastern uprisings over the past three decades, there has been little effort to harness AI to better understand or predict these multifaceted events. This study seeks to address this gap by assessing the performance of AI-intelligence in analyzing (broadly) revolutionary processes and their effects on regional political systems. The research uses a mixedmethod methodology that involves a systematic literature review of contemporary scholarly articles, and an analytics study using AI tools. Our results show t
