Refractory mortar was prepared from the mixing of locally fire clay with different percentage of silica powder (30,40,50,60)wt% by using Pyrometric Cone Equivalent PCE . According to the U.S. Standard ASTM C24, the samples were prepared by using Hand – molding method and dried at temperature 110⁰C and finally firing at different temperature (1000,1100,1200,1300)⁰C according to burning program to study the effect of temperatures for these specimens on the thermal durability .It was shown that the increasing in the percentage of silica content increased the durability of heat specimens, and the best degree of burn was 1300°C.

The ability of beans (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) to uptake three pharmaceuticals (diclofenac, mefenamic acid and metronidazole) from two types of soil (clay and sandy soil) was investigated in this study to explore the human exposure to these pharmaceuticals via the consumption of beans. A pot experiment was conducted with beans plants which were grown in two types of soil for six weeks under controlled conditions. During the experiment period, the soil pore water was collected weekly and the concentrations of the test compounds in soil pore water as well as in plant organs (roots, stems and leaves) were weekly determined.

The soil acari fauna (Cryptostigmat) in soil of Baghdad in Jadiriya area was studied in a total of 16 monthly samples through a period of 12 months (December 2009-November 2010). A new record of one genus for Iraq named (Malloconthrius sp.), and one species named Eupelops plicatus out of seven mite group Cryptostigmata which isolated from the soil. Two species were recorded during the present study as dominants named (Ceratozetes gracilis, Perlohmania dissimilis). Adult of dipterous flies were collected monthly from exposed animals carcasses during the period from February 2006 to January 2007 in Baghdad city. The results obtained showed that flies could be collected all over the year with variation of their population density in different seasons. The majority of the collected species were abundant during Spring and late Autumn (at lowest numbers) . In this investigation, nineteen species confined to four families were collected; these families are: Calliphoridae, Muscidae, Sarcophagidae and Fanniidae. The species Musca domestica Linn .was the most abundant followed by Chrysomya megacephala ( Fabricius ) , while Pollenia sp . and Fannia sp . were the least abundant species.

The investigation started from February2006 till January 2007.The results obtained showed that beetles could be collected during late winter to early autumn with variation of their population density at different seasons. The majority of the collected species were abundant during spring and early summer. In this investigation, four species confined to three families were identified. The species Saprinus sp . 1 (family: Histeridae) was the most abundant followed by Dermestes maculates  De Geer ( family : Dermestidae ) , while Saprinus sp . 2 and Necrobia rufipes
