Background: Lead (pb )is suspected to be one of the endocrine disruptors. People are exposed to high levelsof it in the environment through several ways .In the last years there was an evidence that it affects semenquality. The aim of the study is to assess the level of lead in the blood of male patients and correlate it with theseminal fluid parameters and hormonal levels. Methods: Fifty three infertile male patients, attending the infertility clinic in Baghdad Teaching Hospital fromFebruary 2016 till June 2016, participated in this study. Detailed history was taken and careful examinationwas done. Semen was collected from the patients and analyzed. Blood was withdrawn for hormonal and leadanalysis. Results: There was an increase in blood lead level with increasing age and duration of infertility which has asignificant negative correlation with sperm count and hormonal levels (LH and FSH), but it was not significantconcerning sperm morphology. There was no statistical significance between smokers and non- smokers regarding lead level and between thosewith primary and secondary infertility although it was higher in smokers and in patients with primary infertility. Conclusion: Blood lead level affects male fertility since it has a negative impact on semen parametersincluding sperm count, in addition to the hormonal disturbance in those patients bringing LH and FSH towardslow levels. Smoking on the other hand had been found to increase lead level in blood.
The research includes the preparation of a new Schiff base(4-methyl-2-((2-phenyl hydrazineylidene)methyl)naphthalen-1-ol), which was subsequently, used to prepare a series of complexes using chlorides of Mn2+, Co2+, Cu2+, Cr3+, and Fe3+ ions. The synthesized compounds were characterized using various techniques such as elemental microanalysis (C.H.N), chloride content determination using Mohr’s method, FT-IR spectroscopy, UV-Visible, mass spectra, conductivity, DSC (Differential Scanning Calorimetry), and thermogravimetric analysis. Overall, the decay of the ligand and its metal complexes was recorded to determine their thermal stability and weight-loss profiles. The results indicated that ligand acts as a bidentate doner, coordinating wi

Spectroscopic techniques (UV-Vis, FTIR, 1H &13C-NMR, and LC-Mass) as well as micro elemental analyses (C.H.N.O) and TGA and SDC were used to identify the azo ligand. Complexes of (Zn(II), Cr(III), Cu(II) and VO(II)) were produced and characterized by atomic absorption, elemental microanalysis, infrared, LC-Mass, TGA, DSC and UV-Vis spectral techniques, as well as conductivity and magnetic quantifications. All the complexes had a 1:2 metal-ligand ratio, and non-electrolytes at all complexes and tetrahedral geometry suggested except Cr-complex, which demonstrate

The system describes the interaction between prey and a stage structure of predator that incorporates Holling II functional response. The predator splits into two compartments immature (juvenile) and mature (adult). The mature predators can hunt and reproduce but this capability is not found in the immature predators, the immature depend on their parents. The growth rate of prey decreases due to the existence of mature predators. The existence, uniqueness, and boundedness of the solution of the system are investigated. Three equilibrium points of the system are determined. The local stability of the system is studied. The global stabil

Show MoreABSTRACT This paper has a three-pronged objective: offering a unitary set of semantic distinctive features to the analysis of nominal “hatred synonyms” in the lexicon of both English and Standard Arabic (SA), applying it procedurally to test its scope of functionality crosslinguistically, and singling out the closest noun synonymous equivalents among the membership of the two sets in this particular lexical semantic field in both languages. The componential analysis and the matching procedures carried have been functional in identifying ten totally matching equivalents (i.e. at 55.6%), and eight partially matching ones (i.e. at %44.4%). This result shows that while total matching equivalences do exist in the translation of certain Eng

The proposed method is very accurate with outstanding computation time, which made the fuzzy load flow (FLF) suitable for real time application for small- as well as large-scale power systems. In addition that, the FLF efficiently able to solve load flow problem of ill-conditioned power systems and contingency analysis. The FLF method using Gaussian membership function requires less number of iterations and less computing time than that required in the FLF method using triangular membership function. The current study presents numerical investigation of the fluid (air) flow characteristics and convection heat transfer around different corrugated surfaces geometry in the low Reynolds number region (Re<1000). The geometries are included wavy, triangle, and rectangular. The effect of different geometry parameters such as aspect ratio and number of cycles per unit length on flow field characteristics and heat transfer was estimated and compared with each other. The computerized fluid dynamics package (ANSYS 14) is used to simulate the flow field and heat transfer, solve the governing equations, and extract the results. It is found that the turbulence intensity for rectangular extended surface was larg
