The most common cause of acquired thyroid dysfunction is autoimmune thyroid disease (AITD), which most commonly manifests as Hashimoto's thyroiditis (HT) or Graves' disease (GD). The importance of vitamin D (vit D) as an immune modulator has recently been emphasized in several types of disorders. However, its significance in thyroid illnesses is not fully understood. The purpose of this study is to investigate how vitamin D affects the pathophysiology of hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism in Iraqi women. One hundred Iraqi women with age ranged from 18 to 60 years participate in this research, 50 of them were hypothyroidism patients, 30 were hyperthyroidism patients and the other 20 were euthyroidism served as controls. Blood samples were collected from the studied subjects to determine thyroid profile [free triiodothyronine (FT3), free tetraiodothyronine (FT4) and thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH)], thyroid antibodies [anti-thyroid peroxidase (anti-TPO), anti-thyroglobulin (anti-Tg), and anti-thyroid stimulating hormone receptor (anti-TSHR)], vit D, calcium (Ca), and phosphorus (P) using different analysis techniques. Levels of FT3 and FT4 revealed a significant (P<0.01) increase in hyperthyroidism patients and a significant (P<0.01) decrease in hypothyroidism patients compared with euthyroidism control. While level of TSH was significantly (P<0.01) decreased in hyperthyroidism patients and significantly (P<0.01) increased in hypothyroidism compared with euthyroidism control. When a comparison was made between hyperthyroidism group and hypothyroidism group, the results showed that levels of FT3 and FT4 were significantly (P<0.01) higher in hyerthyroidism than hyporthyroidism while level of TSH was significantly (P<0.01) lower in hyperthyroidism than hyporthyroidism. Levels of anti-TPO and anti-Tg significantly (P<0.01) increased in hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism patients compared with euthyroidism individuals, while level of anti-TSHR was significantly (P<0.01) decreased in hyperthyroidism patients and significantly (P<0.01) increased in hypothyroidism patients compared with euthyroidism individuals. On the other hand, the findings revealed that level of anti-TPO was significantly (P<0.01) higher while levels of anti-Tg and anti-TSHR were significantly (P<0.01) higher in hypothyroidism than hyperthyroidism. The results revealed a significant (P<0.01) decrease in level of vit D in hyperthyroidism patients and hypothyroidism patients compared with euthyroidism control, a significant (P<0.01) increase in levels of Ca and P in hyperthyroidism patients compared with euthyroidism control, while non-significant (P>0.01) differences were found between hypothyroidism patients and euthyroidism control. Also, the findings revealed that levels of vit D, Ca, and P were significantly (P<0.01) higher in hyperthyroidism than hypothyroidism. Conclusion: It can be concluded that Vit D deficiency may be act as a factor in both hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism, and the status of vit D impact on autoimmune thyroiditis. Objectives: to evaluate the efficacy of pharmaceutical Interventions (PI) on quality of life (QOL)Among chemotherapy intake breast cancer women. Method: A pre-post interventional study was carried out at the chemotherapy ward of Alhabobi Hospital in Alnasiriyah City. Eligible patients received comprehensive pharmaceutical care and a self-compiled Breast Cancer Patients Medication Knowledge Guide pamphlet. Each patient received two sessions, the first at baseline and the second after 7, 14, or 21 days depending on the next taking dose of chemotherapy. Each session lasted for approximately 15-30 minutes. Par

Framingham risk score (FRS) is a simplified coronary prediction tool developed to enable clinicians to assess the risk of a cardiovascular event and to identify candidate patients for risk factors modifications worldwide. The predictive ability of the FRS varies between populations, ethnic groups, and socio-economic status. The aim of this study is to find if there is any correlation between the Framingham risk score and the inflammatory and biochemical parameters used to measure disease activity and functional ability in Iraqi patients with active RA.
Asthma is chronic inflammatory disease affecting 5% of world population. Characterized by eosinophilic type2 inflammation. FKBP51 immunophilin, important modular protein of glucocorticoid receptor (GR). We aimed to evaluate immunocytochemical localization of GR and FKBP51 in induced sputum cells by using immunocytochemical method and immunofluorescent ant-FKBP51 and anti –GR antibody and estimation of IgE and Type 2 inflammatory cytokine IL-5,IL-13 by ELISA technique.GR in the sputum show non-significant decrease of cytoplasmic distribution of the patient groups and highly significant increase in steroid treated patients and non-significant increase in nuclear distribution in non-steroid, FKBP51 nuclear localization show non-significant i

It is difficult to adapt treatment to each patient's risk level because there are currently few clinical tests and no molecular diagnostics that may predict a patient's clock for the advancement of CML at the time of chronic phase diagnosis. Biomarkers that can differentiate people based on the outcome at diagnosis are needed for blast crisis prevention and response improvement. Objective: This study is an effort to exploit the SLC25A3 gene as a potential biomarker for CML. Methods: RT-qPCR was applied to assess the expression levels of the SLC25A3 gene. Results: In comparison to the mean ΔCt of the control group, which was found to b

It aims to examine the macro-cultural schemata addressing the concept of violence against women in Iraq from a cognitive linguistic point of view. To meet this objective, a number of Iraqi social caricatures have been selected from two popular and active Iraqi caricaturists, Odeh Al-Fahdawi and Nasser Ibrahim. The selection and the analysis of data have been achieved following the validity and reliability procedures and the ethical considerations. To meet this objective, Sharifian’s Model (2011) of Cultural Schemata has been adopted in data analysis. The study has concluded that the macro-cultural schemata regarding the concept of violence in the selected panels reveals that violenc

Currently, intravenous bisphosphonate is the mainstay of medical treatment in OI. Objective: To identify the effect of current management strategies on Iraqi children diagnosed with OI. Methods: A retrospective study enrolled OI patients who were registered in Central Child Teaching Hospital, Baghdad, Iraq, from January 2015 to December 2022. We enrolled confirmed OI cases (either clinically and/or radiologically) who received cyclic pamidronate therapy for at least 3 cycles. They neither received other types of bisphosphonates nor underwent surgical intervention. Res
