Science and Technology Park as an Urban Element Towards Society Scientific Innovation Evolution
...Show More Authors
Abstract
The idea of Science and Technology Parks (STP) emerged in the 1950s. The Parks have accumulated several architectural functions, including research centers, scientific exhibitions and innovator residence, etc. As these Parks gradually spread, some of them were linked to university complexes, while others had independent sites. The STP have been linked to the prosperity of society by providing an environment that fosters a culture of innovation and transforming research and ideas based on innovation into a commercially marketed product. However, the functional architectural concept of the STP remained unclear. The objective of this paper is to clarifying the stages of development of Parks architecture, investigating their activities, their linkage regarding planning and design, and the way they act as means to evolve innovation in societies.

The Impact of Hydrogen Peroxide as An Oxidant for Solvent-free Liquid Phase Oxidation of Benzyl Alcohol using Au-Pd Supported Carbon and Titanium Catalysts
...Show More Authors

The solvent free oxidation of benzyl alcohol was conducted employing Au and Pd supported catalysts, while utilizing hydrogen peroxide 35% (H2O2) as the oxidant, H2O2 is very cheap, mild, and an environment friendly reagent, which produced water as the only by-product. Various proportions of Au-Pd catalysts on carbon and titanium oxide activated as supports were synthesized through the use of sol immobilization catalyst synthesis technique. Characterization of the synthesized catalysts was performed using X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET), Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy (FESEM), and Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM). It was found that the synthesized Au-Pd/ activated carbon catalyst was benef

The influence of shifting the class I cavity position prepared in posterior teeth buccally and lingualy on stress distribution (Finite element analysis study)
...Show More Authors

Background: Rehabilitation of the carious tooth to establish tooth structure integrity required cavity design that show a benign stress distribution. The aim of this study was to investigate the influence of the cavity position on the stress values in the reamining tooth structure restored with amalgam or resin composite. Materials and methods: Seven 2-D models of maxillary first premolar include class I cavity design was prepared, one sound tooth (A) 3 composite (B1, B2, and B3) and 3 amalgam (C1, C2, and C3). In design (BI and C1) the cavity position is in the mid distance between bacc-lingual cusp tip, design (B2 and C2) and (B3 and C3) shifted toward the buccal cusp and the lingual cusp for 0.5 mm respectively. Series of new complexes of the type [M2 (L)Cl4 ] are prepared from the new ligand[N1 ,N4 -bis(benzo[d]thiazol-2- yl)succinamide (L) derived from ethan-1,2-dicarbonyl chloride and 2-aminobenzothiozole,where, M= Ni(ii), Cu(ii) and Zn(ii) alsocomplexes of mix-ligands, the type [M(L)(8-HQ)]Cl, where, M = Ni(ii), Cu(ii) and Zn(ii),8-HQ= 8-Hydroxyquinoline. Chemical forms are obtained from their 1 H, 13CNMR, Mass spectra (for (L)), FT-IR and U.V spectrum, melting point, molar conduct.Using flame (AA), % M is determined in the complexes. The content of C, H, N and S in the (L) and its complexes was specified. Magnetic susceptibility and thermal analysis (TGA) of prepared compounds were measured. The propose geometry for all complexes[M2 (L)Cl4 ] wa

Towards low-energy desalination: Performance analysis and design of single and two-stage reverse osmosis systems to minimize specific energy consumption
...Show More Authors

Lowering specific energy consumption (SEC) in reverse osmosis (RO) plants is one of the most important criteria in water treatment industry. The present work focused on best suggested RO pilot plant configurations for minimizing specific energy consumption, finding the best configurations experimentally to recover the water with minimizing salts in permeate side in RO module, study the factors affecting the performance of single and two stage systems, TFC membrane is used in spiral wound module. Brackish water is used as feed solution with different concentrations (2000, 3000, 4000 and 5000 ppm). The operating parameters studied were permeate flux, rejection and SEC. The experimental results showed the permeate concentration increased and w

Abstract

This study aims to identify the degree to which the first cycle teachers use different feedback patterns in the E-learning system, to identify the differences in the degree of use according to specialization, teaching experience, and in-service training in the field of classroom assessment as well as the interaction between them. The study sample consisted of (350) female teachers of the first cycle in the governmental schools in Muscat Governorate for the academic year 2020/2021. The study used a questionnaire containing four different feedback patterns: reinforcement, informative, corrective, and interpretive feedback. The psychometric properties of the questionnaire were verified in terms of validity

Staphylococcus aureus is one of the common causative agents of infections, from asymptomatic carriers to healthy individuals. It can colonize anterior nares of carriers with a high capability to resist different antibiotics. Students are susceptible to bacterial infection due to some factors, including poor health habits and surrounding school conditions. This study screened the rate of vancomycin- and methicillin- resistant Staphylococcus aureus nose carriers among secondary students in rural and urban schools and its association with some sociodemographic factors. The study sample included 300 male/female students aged 15-20 years from 12 schools of rural and urban areas during the period from November 2020 till May 2021. It was fo

Assessment of Sustainable Urban Expansion with Land Use and Land Cover Changes for Al-Hillah City Using Remote Sensing and GIS Techniques
...Show More Authors

In the current study, remote sensing techniques and geographic information systems were used to detect changes in land use / land cover (LULC) in the city of Al Hillah, central Iraq for the period from 1990 - 2022. Landsat 5 TM and Landsat 8 OLI visualizations, correction and georeferencing of satellite visuals were used. And then make the necessary classifications to show the changes in LULC in the city of Al Hillah. Through the study, the results showed that there is a clear expansion in the urban area from 20.5 km2 in 1990 to about 57 km2 in 2022. On the other hand, the results showed that there is a slight increase in agricultural areas and water. While the arid (empty) area decreased from 168.7 km 2 to 122 km 2 in 2022. Long-term ur
