Defining the aspects of the local urban sustainability: Eco- cities as a model

The absence of ecological perception in the local urbanization resulted in the lack of a clear conception of achieving sustainability in its simplest form in the urban reality and in the city of Baghdad in particular. The research assumes the possibility of achieving urban sustainability in Iraqi cities by applying the cities for the most effective methods to implemented ecological solutions and introducing appropriate urban planning tools and improve the living environment. The research focuses on the ability to define some aspects to achieve a sustainable local urban identity from global experiences. This was performed by proposing a scheduled theoretical framework, through which the features of sustainability can be extrapolated from the experiences of countries like the UK, China, Spain, Finland, Germany, and the US, which are considered leaders in the field of environmental conservation. The goal is to reach healthy urbanism preserved from emissions, with developed systems, take into account the environment and social life to establish ecological cities as part of its contributions to low carbon development with the aim of mitigating climate changes and contributing to the promotion of the sustainable identity of the city.

Blow-up Properties of a Coupled System of Reaction-Diffusion Equations

    This paper is concerned with a Coupled Reaction-diffusion system defined in a ball with homogeneous Dirichlet boundary conditions. Firstly, we studied the blow-up set showing that, under some conditions, the blow-up in this problem occurs only at a single point. Secondly, under some restricted assumptions on the reaction terms, we established the upper (lower) blow-up rate estimates. Finally, we considered the Ignition system in general dimensional space as an application to our results.

A comparative taxonomic study of nutlets of Stachys L. in Iraq

Nutlets of 22 taxa of Stachys (13 species and seven subspecies and two varieties), representing seven of the currently recognized sections distributed in northern Iraq were examined by light microscope. The basic shape of nutlets in most taxa studied is Obovoid, but Oblong also found in S.megalodanta Hausskn.& Bornm. ex P.H.Davis, S.setirefa C.A.Mey. subsp daenensis (Gandog.) Rech.f.and S. kurdica Boiss.& Hohen. var.kurdica, while the Subgloboid shape found in S. iberica M.Bieb. and S. inflata Benth., more over the Broad triangular shape was found in S. nephrophylla Rech.f. and S.lanigera (Bornm.) Rech.f.., the biggest size of nutlets was found in S.inflata L. and the smallest was in S.melampyroides Hand.-Mzt. Regarding sculpturing pa

PREDICTORS OF HYPOXEMIA IN BRONCHIOLITIS IN A SAMPLE OF IRAQI INFANTS

Background: Bronchiolitis is the first episode of wheezing associated with low grade fever, rhinitis, tachypnea, and increasing respiratory effort in a previously healthy
infant during the winter months, and it is the most common lower respiratory tract infection in infancy.
Objectives: This study is designed to analyze the clinical signs and symptoms alone or as combinations as possible predictors of severe hypoxemia in infants with
bronchiolitis.
Patients and methods: This is a prospective study, which was carried out on 96 infants with a mean age of 7.74 ±3.72 months who were admitted to Children Welfare Teaching Hospital in Medical City-Baghdad with bronchiolitis during the period from 1st O

A Fast Estimation of Activation Energy of Low Density Polyethylene (LDPE)

  A dynamic experimental study of thermal decomposition of low density polyethylene has been carried out with two different heating rates  .As usual , we can determine the activation energy of any polymer using( 3 - 6 ) TGA experiment as minimum , but  in  this work , we estimate the activation energy of  LDPE  using two of  TGA  experiments only

Frequency of HLA Antigens in a Sample of Iraqi Brucellosis Patients

Fifty one patients with serologically confirmed brucellosis and 70 healthy controls were phenotyped for HLA-A, -B, -DR and -DQ antigens by using standard microlympho-cytotoxicity method, and lymphocytes defined by their CD markers (CD3, CD4, CD8 and CD19). The results revealed a significant (Pc = 0.001) increased frequency of HLA-DR8 (41.18 vs. 10.0%) in the patients . A significant increased percentage of CD8+ lymphocytes was also increased in the patients (25.15 vs. 22.0%; P = 0.006), while CD3+ lymphocytes were significantly decreased (75.1 vs. 79.4%; P = 0.02).

Dermatological Side Effects of Sildenafil among a group of Iraqi Males

Background: Sildenafil is a drug that is used to treat erectile dysfunctions, it acts by inhibiting CGMP specific phosphodiesterase type 5, an enzyme that regulates blood flow in the penis. The most common adverse effects of sildenafil are headache, dyspepsia, nasal congestion and impaired vision which includes photophobia and blurred vision. Many dermatological side effects are present like flushing, urticaria, sweating and many others.
Patients and Methods: Fifty six males were included in this study, with ages between 37 – 60 years and a mean age of 50.1 ± 7.1years. The study was conducted from November 2004 till May 2009 in the Department of Dermatology of Al-Kadhymia Teaching Hospital in Baghdad;
