Polycystic Ovary Syndrome and Urinary Tract Stones: A Body Mass Index-Adjusted Analysis in Iraqi Women
...Show More Authors

Background: Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) has an unknown and complex etiology. It affects 5–10% of women in the reproductive age. Patients are known to have increased ovarian androgen production that is associated with decreased menses, hirsutism, and acne. Urinary tract stones (UTS) are a multifactorial disorder, with age and sex being known risk factors. Many PCOS patients are obese, and links between nephrolithiasis and obesity have been shown previously. Objectives: To identify the relation between PCOS and UTS considering the patients' body mass index (BMI). Methods: This is a cross-sectional study that enrolled 407 women aged 18-40 who attended the gynecology and obstetrics clinic at Al-Elwiya Maternity Teaching Hospital. The patients were assigned to the PCOS group or the control group. The data collected includes age, weight, height, body mass index (BMI), and the results of abdominal ultrasonography to detect UTS. Results: One hundred ninety women were in the PCOS group and 217 in the control group. The PCOS group had a higher BMI than the control group. Patients with UTS had a higher BMI than those without UTS. PCOS combined with a higher BMI showed an increased risk of having UTS. However, analysis of each of the variables taking the other into account showed no significant association. Conclusions: PCOS and BMI both raise the chances of having UTS; however, each one showed no significant association when adjusting for the other.

Reproductive Dysfunction in Women with PCOS: A Review Article
...Show More Authors

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a significant cause of infertility due to ovulation dysfunction in women of childbearing age. Although the pathogenesis of PCOS is still not clear, many studies have shown that many factors within the ovary promote infection. With this syndrome, the disruption of the natural monthly ovulation process causes an imbalance in the body's hormones, and the high level of insulin in the body and the blood sugar imbalance leads to the occurrence of hyperandrogenism, which is the main factor for the occurrence of pathogens, in addition to genetic factors, if any. This study aims to identify this disease and its most important causes, symptoms, and modern treatments to prevent and get rid of it. Polycystic

Studies on the role of retinol binding protien-4 in type 2 diabetic Iraqi patients with metabolic syndrome
...Show More Authors

Several adipokines are produced and secreted from adipose tissue, such as retinol binding protein-4, which triggers metabolic syndromes and insulin resistance. Retinol binding protein-4 transfers vitamin A or retinol in the blood. Higher levels of retinol binding protein-4 are interrelated with progress of metabolic disease, comprising obesity, metabolic syndrome, and type 2 diabetes mellitus. The present study investigates the role of retinol-binding protein-4 levels in type 2 diabetic Iraqi patients with metabolic syndrome. Sixty type 2 diabetic patients aged 40–53 years were examined. Of these 30 patients has metabolic syndrome and 30 without metabolic syndrome. The patients sampled were from the National Diabetes Center/ Mustansiriyah

Relationship Between Interleukin -33( IL-33) and C- Reactive Protein in Iraqi Women Patients with Celiac Disease
...Show More Authors

Interleukin -33 is a new member of the IL-1 superfamily of cytokines that is expressed mainly by stromal cells. Its expression is upregulated following pro-inflammatory stimulation.Aim of the present study was to assess the serum IL-33 level and its relationship with inflammatory biomarker CRP in Iraqi females patients with celiac disease. Thirty five patients with celiac disease (CD) and thirty healthy individuals as control group were enrolled in this study, their age ranged (20-35) year.Anti-Gliadin IgA ,IgG and Anti-Tissue IgA ,IgG were estimated in all subjects as diagnostic parameters .ESR and CRP were assayed as inflammatory biomarkers. IL-33 was determined in patients and control groups. The results of the present study revealed a hig

Assessment of serum mid-regional pro-adrenomedullin level in gestational Diabetes Mellitus in Iraqi women
...Show More Authors

Adrenomedullin (ADM) is a strong vasodilator peptide that was first identified in human pheochromocytoma and known to expressed in numerous cell types and believed to have pleiotropic impacts on pregnancy-related vascular adaptations and fetal growth. Mid-regional pro-adrenomedullin (MR-proADM) peptide which secreted in an equimolar concentration to ADM used to quantify ADM in plasma since it has longer half-life with more availability than ADM and for that reason the present study determine the serum MR-proADM level in the plasma of pregnant women with and without GDM and determine any potential correlation between MR-proADM and gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) in an observational case–control study conducted on

Iraqi Sentiment and Emotion Analysis Using Deep Learning
...Show More Authors

Analyzing sentiment and emotions in Arabic texts on social networking sites has gained wide interest from researchers. It has been an active research topic in recent years due to its importance in analyzing reviewers' opinions. The Iraqi dialect is one of the Arabic dialects used in social networking sites, characterized by its complexity and, therefore, the difficulty of analyzing sentiment. This work presents a hybrid deep learning model consisting of a Convolution Neural Network (CNN) and the Gated Recurrent Units (GRU) to analyze sentiment and emotions in Iraqi texts. Three Iraqi datasets (Iraqi Arab Emotions Data Set (IAEDS), Annotated Corpus of Mesopotamian-Iraqi Dialect (ACMID), and Iraqi Arabic Dataset (IAD)) col

Abstract<p>In this study, field results data were conducted, implemented in 64 biofilm reactors to analyses extract organic matter nutrients from wastewater through a laboratory level nutrient removal process, biofilm layer moving process using anaerobic aerobic units. The kinetic layer biofilm reactors were continuously operating in Turbo 4BIO for BOD COD with nitrogen phosphorous. The Barakia plant is designed to serve 200,000 resident works on biological treatment through merge two process (activated sludge process, moving bed bio reactio MBBR) with an average wastewater flow of 50,000 m3/day the data were collected annually from 2017-2020. Exploring the Impact of Anthropometric Measurements on Kidney Cancer Progression in Iraqi Patients: A Comprehensive Analysis
...Show More Authors

Despite not being digested, trace elements and/or heavy metals are important for the activity of enzymes, physiological processes, and homeostasis. If certain trace elements are present in excess, they can have harmful effects and pose major health hazards. Objective: The aims to examine the connection between serum zinc, copper levels, and the Cu/Zn ratio, and several anthropometric parameters, including an index of body mass and the waist-hip ratio. In our study, we used atomic absorption spectrometry (AAS) to measure serum levels of copper (Cu) and zinc (Zn) in 60 individuals, 30 patients with kidney cancer and 30 healthy controls. We assessed serum uric acid, creatinine, and urea using the semi-auto analyzer BA-88A (Korea). The results
