Classification of grapevine leaves images using VGG-16 and VGG-19 deep learning nets
...Show More Authors

The successful implementation of deep learning nets opens up possibilities for various applications in viticulture, including disease detection, plant health monitoring, and grapevine variety identification. With the progressive advancements in the domain of deep learning, further advancements and refinements in the models and datasets can be expected, potentially leading to even more accurate and efficient classification systems for grapevine leaves and beyond. Overall, this research provides valuable insights into the potential of deep learning for agricultural applications and paves the way for future studies in this domain. This work employs a convolutional neural network (CNN)-based architecture to perform grapevine leaf image classification by adapting VGG-16 net and VGG-19 net models and subsequently identifying the optimal performer between the two nets during the classification process. A publicly available dataset comprising 500 images categorized into 5 distinct classes (100 images per class), was utilized in this work. The obtained empirical outcomes demonstrate a remarkable accuracy rate of 99.6% for the VGG-16 net model, while VGG-19 net achieves a 100% accuracy rate. Based on these findings, it can be inferred that VGG-19 net exhibits superior performance in classifying images of grapevine leaves compared to the VGG-16 net. © (2024), (Universitas Ahmad Dahlan). Mineral Inversion Approach to Improve Ahdeb Oil Field's Mineral Classification
...Show More Authors

Knowledge of the mineralogical composition of a petroleum reservoir's formation is crucial for the petrophysical evaluation of the reservoir. The Mishrif formation, which is prevalent in the Middle East, is renowned for its mineralogical complexity. Multi-mineral inversion, which combines multiple logs and inversions for multiple minerals at once, can make it easier to figure out what minerals are in the Mishrif Formation. This method could help identify minerals better and give more information about the minerals that make up the formation. In this study, an error model is used to find a link between the measurements of the tools and the petrophysical parameters. An error minimization procedure is subsequently applied to determine

Identifying breast cancer utilizing artificial intelligence technologies is valuable and has a great influence on the early detection of diseases. It also can save humanity by giving them a better chance to be treated in the earlier stages of cancer. During the last decade, deep neural networks (DNN) and machine learning (ML) systems have been widely used by almost every segment in medical centers due to their accurate identification and recognition of diseases, especially when trained using many datasets/samples. in this paper, a proposed two hidden layers DNN with a reduction in the number of additions and multiplications in each neuron. The number of bits and binary points of inputs and weights can be changed using the mask configuration

Morlet wavelet–based olfactory-evoked EEG features for random forest classification of normal, aMCI, and Alzheimer’s disease
...Show More Authors

Olfactory impairment and abnormal frontal EEG oscillations are recognized as early markers of Alzheimer’s disease (AD). Using a publicly available olfactory EEG dataset of 35 subjects spanning normal cognition, amnestic mild cognitive impairment (aMCI), and AD, each with MMSE scores and demographics, stimulus-locked epochs from four electrodes (Fp1, Fz, Cz, Pz) were processed with wavelet-based time–frequency analysis. Band-limited power ratios (delta, theta, alpha, beta) were computed as log-transformed post-odor/baseline values and aggregated to subject-level features. Statistical analyses revealed graded attenuation of odor-evoked frontal (Fp1) band-power ratios across groups, with significant differences in several band–od

Useing the Hierarchical Cluster Analysis and Fuzzy Cluster Analysis Methods for Classification of Some Hospitals in Basra
...Show More Authors

In general, the importance of cluster analysis is that one can evaluate elements by clustering multiple homogeneous data; the main objective of this analysis is to collect the elements of a single, homogeneous group into different divisions, depending on many variables. This method of analysis is used to reduce data, generate hypotheses and test them, as well as predict and match models. The research aims to evaluate the fuzzy cluster analysis, which is a special case of cluster analysis, as well as to compare the two methods—classical and fuzzy cluster analysis. The research topic has been allocated to the government and private hospitals. The sampling for this research was comprised of 288 patients being treated in 10 hospitals. As t

This research concentrate on cultivated Iraqi Agave attenuata dried leaves and roots, because of little studies on this plant especially on the root that lead to the eager of study and comparison of phytochemical constituents between leaves and root. Extraction of bioactive constituents was carried out using several solvents with increasing polarity (n-hexane, ethyl acetate and methanol) by soxhlet apparatus. Steroidal saponins in Agave genus is well documented in many species, lightening the minds in this research on extraction method which is specific for steroidal saponins. Phytochemical screening was done by GC/MS for n-hexane fraction, qualitative and quantitative estimation of several bioactive constituents (caffe

Experimental Evaluation of the Strut-and-Tie Model Applied to Deep Beam with Near-Load Openings
...Show More Authors

It is commonly known that Euler-Bernoulli’s thin beam theorem is not applicable whenever a nonlinear distribution of strain/stress occurs, such as in deep beams, or the stress distribution is discontinuous. In order to design the members experiencing such distorted stress regions, the Strut-and-Tie Model (STM) could be utilized. In this paper, experimental investigation of STM technique for three identical small-scale deep beams was conducted. The beams were simply supported and loaded statically with a concentrated load at the mid span of the beams. These deep beams had two symmetrical openings near the application point of loading. Both the deep beam, where the stress distribution cannot be assumed linear, and the ex

Strength and Serviceability of Reinforced Concrete Deep Beams with Large Web Openings Created in Shear Spans
...Show More Authors

Deep beams are used in wide construction fields such as water tanks, foundations, and girders in multi-story buildings to provide certain areas free of columns. In practice it is quite often occurring to create web opening in deep beams to supply convenient passage of ventilation ducts, cable channels, gas and water pipes. Experimental studies of ten 10 deep beams were carried out, where two of them are control specimens without openings and eight with large web openings in the shear spans. The variables that have been adopted are the ratio of the shear span to the overall depth of the member cross-section, location and dimensions of the opening. Test results showed that there was a decrease in the load carrying capacity of deep bea
