In this work, the experimental data of four eco-friendly soil stabilizers—recycled concrete aggregate (RCA), recycled aggregate concrete (RAC), Class F fly ash, and nano-MgO— used for low plasticity clay (CL) are synthesized in a comparative manner. A well-organized secondary database was developed for OMC and MDD, UCS, soaked CBR, ultimate bearing capacity, and settlement. Differences between studies were controlled by limiting the data to similar test conditions and calculating changes from each source study’s respective untreated control. OMC was raised by the fly ash from 17.2% to 20.2%, while MDD was decreased from 1.80 g/cm3 (3% dosage) to 1.69 g/cm3 (9% dosage). RCA and RAC yielded maximum dry density (MDD) of 1.86 and 1.89 g/cm3, respectively. At 28 days, nano-MgO exhibited the highest UCS (520 kPa) and soaked CBR (11.6%) at 1% dosage. Fly ash at 6% led to the highest ultimate bearing capacity for the non-nano cases (3,434 kPa), while the highest bearing capacity (4,120 kPa) and the lowest settlement (3.8 mm) were reached by nano-MgO. Based on UCS, CBR, bearing capacity, and settlement control, an equal-weight min-max index placed the tested conditions in this order: nano-MgO, RAC, fly ash at 9%, fly ash at 6%, and RCA. Pearson r for CBR versus UCS was 0.98 indicating very strong correlation, while r for MDD versus ultimate bearing capacity was −0.02 indicating no clear linear relation between ultimate bearing capacity and MDD. The conclusions are limited to short-term laboratory data for CL soils; cost, life-cycle impacts, durability, and field performance require separate evaluation.
Corrosion- induced damage in reinforced concrete structure such as bridges, parking garages, and buildings, and the related cost for maintaining them in a serviceable condition, is a source of major concern for the owners of these structures.
Fly ash produced from south Baghdad power plant with different concentrations (20, 25 and 30) % by weight from the cement ratio were used as a corrosion inhibitor as a weight ratio from the cement content.
The concrete batch ratio under study was (1:1.5:3) cement, sand and gravel respectively which is used in Iraq. All the raw materials used were locally manufactured.
Concrete slabs (250x250x70) mm dimensions were casted, using Poly-wood molds. Two steel bars were embedded in the central po
The Dielectric properties of EP/TiO2 and MgO nanocomposite at
a frequency range of (102-106 Hz) were studied. The composite were
prepared with the state volume ratio (0, 0.05, 0.1) for EP/TiO2 and
MgO respectively. The impedance, dielectric constant and dielectric
loss were found decrease with frequency increase.
The objective of the study is developing a procedure for production and characterization of rice husk ash (RHA). The effects of rice husk (RH) amount, burning/cooling conditions combined with stirring on producing of RHA with amorphous silica, highest SiO2, lowest loss on ignition (LOI), uniform particle shape distribution and nano structured size have been studied. It is concluded that the best amount is 20 g RH in 125 ml evaporating dish Porcelain with burning for 2 h at temperature 700 °C combined with cooling three times during burning to produce RHA with amorphous silica, SiO2 90.78% and LOI 1.73%. On the other hand, cooling and stirring times affect the variation of nano structured size and particle shape dis

Show MoreThis paper focuses firstly on the production of monomers bis (2-hydroxyethyl) terephthalate (BHET) and oligomers by using two different form of MgO light active and Nano Magnesium oxide with different weight ratio (0.15, 0.25 and 0.5) by using chemical recycling glass condenser at 190 ˚C. The second purpose is to study the effect of catalyst ratio, time of reaction and yield of products of the product. Elemental analysis for Carbon –Hydrogen and Nitrogen (CHN), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) have been investigated. Results indicated the catalytic activity was found to correlate with surface area; however, LA MgO has shown an exceptional activity, still it is h

Show MoreMauddud formation is one of the most prominent formations in Northeastern Iraq due to its significant hydrocarbon reserves, making accurate geomechanical characterization essential for safe drilling operations and informed development planning. This study constructs a calibrated post-drill one dimensional mechanical earth model (1D-MEM) for selected wells, levering Techlog software to integrate rock mechanical data, image logs, multi-arm caliper measurements, conventional well logs, drilling reports, and core analyses. The methodology provides a detailed workflow for estimating geomechanical properties from log and image analysis to model calibration. Show MoreToday's smart engineering systems are often faced with situations that are structurally uncertain, informationally incomplete, and non-probabilistically ambiguous, especially for electrical systems. ARDL models are limited in applications in complex computational environments where the uncertainty is due to vagueness, not randomness, and assume the exact parametric representation of the models and the structure of the stochastic uncertainty. This study proposes a new soft-computing paradigm using Fuzzy Autoregressive Distributed Lag (FARDL) models and compares the performance of the Linear Programming (LP) and Quadratic Programming (QP) estimation algorithms using large-scale parallel Monte Carlo simulations to overcome these drawba

A burning chamber was installed to burn cellulosic waste only. It was found that combustion reduced the original volume and weight of cellulosic waste by 97.4% and 85% respectively.
A batch composting study was performed to evaluate the feasibility of co-composting organic food waste with the cellulosic bottom ash in three different weight ratios (w/w) [95/5, 75/25, 50/50].
The composters were kept in controlled aerobic conditions for 7 days. Temperature, moisture, and pH were measured hourly as process succe
