Effect of uricol® and food with different samafurantin® doses on secondary pharmacokinetic parameters by applying urinary data
...Show More Authors

Introduction: Nitrofurantoin (NFT) is abroad spectrum bactericidal antibiotic. The bioavailability of NFT is affected by many factors. Samafurantin® tablets containing 50 mg NFT were manufactured by Samarra drug industry. Urinary excretion studies were employed since; the urinary tract is the main site of NFT action and excretion. Objective: The objective of the study was to investigate the effect of Uricol® and food on secondary pharmacokinetic parameters of Samafurantin® tablets with different doses by applying urinary data. Methods: Twelve healthy male volunteers participated in this study. Urine samples were collected from each volunteer after overnight fasting at a specified time intervals which considered as a blank sample for measuring urine pH of urine. After that, volunteers were randomly divided into two groups (G1 and G2) each of six. Group 1 was administered 100 mg of NFT (Two tablets of 50 mg Samafurantin®) while, G2 was administered 200 mg of NFT (Four tablets of 50 mg Samafurantin®) as a single oral dose. Both groups administered the dose on an empty stomach (fasting), along with one Uricol® of 5 g sachet on fasting, and on full stomach after eating a standard breakfast after 1-week washout period between each experiment and another. For each experiment, urine samples were collected from each volunteer from 0.25 to 7 h post dosing. In addition, the volume of each void urine sample was measured. Results: Both groups (G1 and G2) showed only slight differences in the pH of urine after administration of Samafurantin® as compared with that of the blank. While, the pH of urine for both groups was higher after administration of Samafurantin® tablets along with Uricol® 5 g. In both groups, each of Uricol® and food exhibited no significant differences (P < 0.05) in secondary pharmacokinetic parameters of NFT; the rate constant of elimination (Kel) and absorption (Ka) and consequently their half-life (t0.5 el and t0.5 abs) as long as the drug followed first-order kinetics. While significant differences (P < 0.05) were observed for maximum excretion rate (ExRmax), cumulative amount excreted in urine (CAe) and CAe as percentage of the dose. This could be attributed to the pH-change of urine by Uricol® which alkalinized the urinary and kidney tract or delaying gastric emptying by food. Same observations were attained when comparing G1 with G2 after administration of NFT on fasting. Conclusions: Administration of Samafurantin® tablets at higher doses, along with Uricol® or with food increases secondary pharmacokinetic parameters related to the rate and extent of absorption and elimination without significant changes in their corresponding rate constants and half-lives. © 2018 Drug Invention Today.

Effect of Inclined Magnetic Field on Peristaltic Flow of Carreau Fluid through Porous Medium in an Inclined Tapered Asymmetric Channel
...Show More Authors

During this article, we have a tendency to show the peristaltic activity of magnetohydrodynamics flow of carreau fluid with heat transfer influence in an inclined tapered asymmetric channel through porous medium by exploitation the influence of non-slip boundary conditions. The tapered asymmetric channel is often created because of the intrauterine fluid flow induced by myometrial contraction and it had been simulated by asymmetric peristaltic fluid flow in an exceedingly two dimensional infinite non uniform channel, this fluid is known as hereby carreau fluid, conjointly we are able to say that one amongst carreau's applications is that the blood flow within the body of human. Industrial field, silicon oil is an example of carreau

Effect of platelet rich-fibrin on alveolar osteitis incidence following surgical removal of impacted mandibular third molars: A comparative study
...Show More Authors

Background: Postoperative morbidity after extraction of the impacted mandibular third molar (IMTM) is inevitable. One of the most common postoperative complication is alveolar osteitis (AO) which is a painful non healed socket. Many researches were attempted to prevent the occurrence of AO by introducing and applying a new materials inside the extraction socket. Platelet rich fibrin (PRF) is a biological complex fibrin matrix where autologous platelets and leucocytes are present, used to enhance tissue healing process and reduce the early adverse effects of the inflammation. Aims: To evaluate the effect of PRF on the incidence of AO. Also to assess PRF effect on pain, swelling, and trismus following the surgical removal of IMTM and

Effect of Six-Minute Walk Test on Health-related Quality of Life in Patients Undergone Coronary Artery Bypass Graft Surgery
...Show More Authors

Objective: To assess the effect of six-minute walk test on health-related quality of life in patients undergone coronary artery bypass graft surgery at Iraqi center for heart diseases. Material: This descriptive study was conducted from 8th August, 2022 to 10th January, 2023. A non-probability purposive sample of 50 patients undergoing coronary artery bypass graft surgery at Iraqi center for heart diseases was included in the study. A questionnaire composed of three parts; sociodemographic and clinical data, six-minute walk test (6MWT) and health-related quality of life (HRQoL) were used. SPSS version 26 was utilized to analyze data. Results: Patient’s performance showed highly significant statistical differences at p<0.05 betw

Effect of a novel coating material on the microleakage of glass hybrid restoration in primary teeth – An in vitro study
...Show More Authors

Background: Glass ionomer restorations are widely employed in the field of pediatric dentistry. There is a constant demand for a durable restoration that remains functional until exfoliation. This study aimed to measure and compare the effect of a novel coating material (EQUIA Forte Coat) on the microleakage of glass hybrid restoration (EQUIA Forte HT) in primary teeth. Material and method: Thirty cavitated (class-II) primary molars were allocated randomly into two groups based on the coat application; uncoated (control) and coated group (experimental). Cavities were prepared by the use of a ceramic bur (CeraBur) and restored with EQUIA Forte HT with or without applying a protective coat (EQUIA Forte Coat). Samples went through the

Photobiomodulation Effect of 850 nm Near-infrared Diode Laser on the Release of M1-related Cytokines Inmonocytic THP-1 Cells
...Show More Authors

Photobiomodulation (PBM) is a form of the use of visible red and Near-infrared (NIR) light at low power, where a laser light photon is absorbed at the electronic level, without heat production. PBM can be applied in wide range of treatment to help the wound, inflammation, edema, and pain reduction. However, there is a lack of scientific documentation regarding its actual effects. Objectives: This study assesses the impact of PBM on the release of M1-related cytokine in monocyte cells with particular emphasis on interleukin-1β (IL-1β) and Tumour Necrosis Factor α (TNF-α). Methods: Tamm-Horsfall Protein 1 (THP-1) macrophages M1 cells have been exposed to the light from the diode laser of 850nmat different doses (0, 0.6, 1.2 and 3.
