Objective: The incidence of infectious diseases among hospitalized children remains high. This study describes the environmental health indicator diseases and differences between gender and age of the affected children. Patients & Methods: A review of hospitalization and death causes among children admitted to the Child Teaching Hospital for Pediatrics in Baghdad, Iraq was performed. Medical records of children admitted throughout three years period were collected for demographics data and statistical analysis using Chi-square test. Results: A total of 4,272 admissions and 309 deaths were recorded. Infectious diseases remain the primary cause of hospitalization among children and frequently lead to death; which recorded (56%) followed by acute respiratory diseases (35.5%). Conclusion: Health interventional programs such as integrated management of childhood illnesses and primary health care system as well as intensification of immunization programs would most likely lead to minimize the incidence of infectious diseases in children.

The levels of lead (pb), copper (cu), cobalt (co) and cadmium (cd) were determined in different kinds of milk and the health risks were evaluated. The mean levels were 0.73±0.21, 0.06±0.01, 0.12±0.01 and 0.14±0.01 ppm for these metals respectively. The levels of pb and cu were found to be insignificant differences (p<0.05), whereas the levels of co and cd, were no significant differences (p>0.05). The dry and liquid kinds of milk were different significantly (p<0.05), whereas the original, was no significant differences (p>0.05). The values for all metals were more than one. The metals pb and cd were detected at highest concentrations in most dry and liquid milk samples.
Background: One of the most common problems that encountered is postburn contracture which has both functional and aesthetic impact on the patients. Various surgical methods had being proposed to treat such problem. Aim: To evaluate the effectiveness of square flap in management of postburn contracture in several part of the body. Different factors have been examined to be related with the prevalence of Girdiasis in the north of Baghdad in human beings which were (gender, age , occupation ,family size,faecal status and presence of domestic animals) during the period from the beginning of April 2009 till the end of March 2010.
