Five oil sample of Mashrif and Nahr Umr Formation for Amarah oil field,
southern Iraq, were taken and analyzed in Geo Mark laboratory in USA center in
order to determine the bulk properties of crude oils and carbon isotopes for these
samples in addition to determine biomarker parameters using Gas
Chromatography(GC), and Gas Chromatography Mass Spectrometry )GCMS
(analytical technique. According to these biomarker analyses of the two formation, it
is indicated that they are non-degraded, marine, non-waxy, derived from

This research presents the kinetics of the saponification reaction using mixed fats of olein and stearin [in the ratio (3:1)] with NaOH solution. In this reaction, excess solution of NaOH was used to ensure the reaction being irreversible. Three parameters were varied to show their effects on the reaction rate .They are: percentage excess of NaOH solution (10 % - 100 %) , temperature (100-150)oC , and stirring speed (400-1100) rpm. In this research, the program SEEP / W was used to compute the value of seepage through the homogenous and non-homogeneous earth dam with known dimensions. The results show that the relationship between the seepage and water height in upstream of the dam to its length for saturated soil was nonlinear when the dam is homogenous.
