Film condensation of steam on a vertical tube is investigated numerically and experimentally, in the present work. A mathematical model was set based on the basic conservation laws of mass and energy, Nusselts analysis of film condensation, and empirical equations available in the literature. Then, a simulation program in FORTRAN language was developed which simulates the film condensation of steam on a vertical tube. A complete steam tables subprogram was also developed and incorporated with the main program. The experimental work was carried out using a steam condensation test bench. The inlet and outlet cooling water temperatures, steam temperature and pressure, tube surface temperature at center, and cooling water flow rate are recorded during each experimental test run. The inlet cooling water temperature, steam temperature, and cooling water flow rate are used as an input for the numerical program, then the program calculates tube surface temperature distribution, cooling water temperature distribution, local heat transfer rate, local condensation heat transfer coefficient, condensate boundary layer thickness distribution, total heat transfer rate, and average condensation heat transfer coefficient. The effect of various parameters on the condensation heat transfer coefficient, such as steam temperature, steam-surface temperature difference, and the presence of non-condensable gas were investigated and reported graphically. It was found that increasing (steam-surface) temperature difference while keeping the steam temperature constant results in an increase in condensate boundary layer thickness, which in turn causes a decrease in condensation heat transfer coefficient. On the other hand, increasing steam temperature and keeping the (steam-surface) temperature difference constant leads to an increase in condensation heat transfer coefficient. In addition, the presence of non-condensable gas with different concentrations was also investigated and it was shown that it causes a noticeable reduction in the average condensation heat transfer coefficient. An equation for calculating average condensation heat transfer coefficient on a vertical tube was also developed. The experimental data obtained from the test runs were compared with numerical results and showed good agreement. Thus, it can be concluded that the present computational program is suitable for simulating steam condensation on a vertical tube.
It is not new to say that recent studies have tended to look at the margins of the texts in order to extract the information provided by the book to the recipient. The margins of the texts were defined in a number of terms, including the thresholds, and the margins of the text, etc. The difference was according to the researchers who dealt with the subject in research and inquiry. Therefore, all researchers assert that the texts must provide information even if it is propaganda for the text. Hence the importance of these texts emerged as they represent a scientific information material that encapsulates the body of the text as well as being a propaganda material that inspires the reader to read it. Hence for

Structure properties including x-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscope (SEM0, also some of mechanical properties and the effect of thermal annealing in different temperature have been studied. The results show that the particle size of a prepared nano-powder was 50 up to 75 nm from SEM, and the crystal structure of the powders (original and nano powder) was rutile with tetragonal cell. Organic soil is problematic soils in geotechnical engineering due to its properties, as it is characterized by high compressibility and low bearing capacity. Therefore, several geotechnical techniques tried to stabilize and improve this soil type. In this study, sodium silicate was used to stabilize sand dune columns. The best sodium silicate concentration (9%) was used, and the stabilized sand dune columns were cured for seven days. The results for this soil were extracted using a numerical analysis program (Plaxis 3D, 2020).In the case of studying the effect of (L/D) (where ‘’L” and ‘’D’’ length and diameter of sand dune columns) of a single column of sand dunes stabilized with sodium silicate with a diff

Extreme conditions will cause the water level of high fill canal segment to change suddenly, which will affect the velocity and pore pressure of the slope. A 9 km irrigation earth canal in the city of Alsyahy, 15 km away from Al-Hilla city, and branching off from the left side of Shatt Al-Hilla at 57 km, was studied. The aim of this work is to study and analyze the effect of rationing system on the Birmana earthen canal during rapid drawdown case. Finite element modeling with Geo-Studio software was used in the present study to analyze the combined seepage and slope stability for three cycles. The resulting minimum safety factor obtained from the analysis using the saturated and

It is well known that petroleum refineries are considered the largest generator of oily sludge which may cause serious threats to the environment if disposed of without treatment. Throughout the present research, it can be said that a hybrid process including ultrasonic treatment coupled with froth floatation has been shown as a green efficient treatment of oily sludge waste from the bottom of crude oil tanks in Al-Daura refinery and able to get high yield of base oil recovery which is 65% at the optimum operating conditions (treatment time = 30 min, ultrasonic wave amplitude = 60 micron, and (solvent: oily sludge) ratio = 4). Experimental results showed that 83% of the solvent used was recovered meanwhile the main water

These parameters were rotational velocity (0 - 1.57 m/s), temperature (30oC – 50oC), and time. The effect of these parameters on the corrosion rate and inhibition efficiency were investigated and discussed. It was found that the corrosion rate represented by limiting current increases considerably with increasing velocity and temperature and that it decreased with time due to the formation of corrosion product layer. The corrosion potential shifted t

An equation to estimate the wetted area of unsaturated soil with water uptake by roots is simulated numerically using the HYDRUS-2D/3D software. In this paper, two soil types, which were different in saturated hydraulic conductivity were used with two types of crops tomato and corn, different values of emitter discharge and initial volumetric soil moisture content were assumed.
