Development of 1D-Synthetic Geomechanical Well Logs for Applications Related to Reservoir Geomechanics in Buzurgan Oil Field
...Show More Authors

Knowledge of the distribution of the rock mechanical properties along the depth of the wells is an important task for many applications related to reservoir geomechanics. Such these applications are wellbore stability analysis, hydraulic fracturing, reservoir compaction and subsidence, sand production, and fault reactivation. A major challenge with determining the rock mechanical properties is that they are not directly measured at the wellbore. They can be only sampled at well location using rock testing. Furthermore, the core analysis provides discrete data measurements for specific depth as well as it is often available only for a few wells in a field of interest. This study presents a methodology to generate synthetic-geomechanical well logs for the production section of the Buzurgan oil field, located in the south of Iraq, using an artificial neural network. An issue with the area of study is that shear wave velocities and pore pressure measurements in some wells are missing or incomplete possibly for cost and time-saving purposes. The unavailability of these data can potentially create inaccuracies in reservoir characterization n and production management. To overcome these challenges, this study presents two developed models for estimating the shear wave velocity and pore pressure using ANN techniques. The input parameters are conventional well logs including compressional wave, bulk density, and gamma-ray. Also, this study presents a construction of 1-D mechanical earth model for the production section of Buzurgan oil field which can be used for optimizing the selected mud weights with less wellbore problems (less nonproductive time. The results showed that artificial neural network is a powerful tool in determining the shear wave velocity and formation pore pressure using conventional well logs. The constructed 1D MEM revealed a high matching between the predicted wellbore instabilities and the actual wellbore failures that were observed by the caliper log. The majority of borehole enlargements can be attributed to the formation shear failures due to an inadequate selection of mud weights while drilling. Hence, this study presents optimum mud weights (1.3 to 1.35 g/cc) that can be used to drill new wells in the Buzurgan oil field with less expected drilling problems.

Development and Assessment of Feed Forward Back Propagation Neural Network Models to Predict Sunshine Duration
...Show More Authors

The duration of sunshine is one of the important indicators and one of the variables for measuring the amount of solar radiation collected in a particular area. Duration of solar brightness has been used to study atmospheric energy balance, sustainable development, ecosystem evolution and climate change. Predicting the average values of sunshine duration (SD) for Duhok city, Iraq on a daily basis using the approach of artificial neural network (ANN) is the focus of this paper. Many different ANN models with different input variables were used in the prediction processes. The daily average of the month, average temperature, maximum temperature, minimum temperature, relative humidity, wind direction, cloud level and atmosp

Sustainable Development in Language Education
...Show More Authors

The goal of the study is to identify the components of sustainable development—economic, social, and cultural—as recommended by the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization and how they apply to the foreign language instruction process at Iraqi universities. The development of sustainable development principles is considered while evaluating the importance of two fundamental components of high-quality education: the learning environment and the curriculum. The research employs a qualitative design and uses an observational instrument with a sample of fifty students at second-year English department/college of education (Ibn-Rushd) at Baghdad University. The survey's findings, which sought to learn how st

Play in children’s psychological development
...Show More Authors

Play constitutes a significant means for children to figure out the world around. Play helps children to have a healthy brain that increase their creativity via developing emotional, cognitive, physical strength. Thus, the current research aims to identify the role of play in psychological development of children. The findings of study revealed that play develops children’s cognitive, emotional abilities and enhances their self-confidence. Play forms a major approach for learning that promotes children to get rid of stress. Additionally, it supports language development of children

Experimental Evaluation of Stability and Rheological Properties of Foam Cement for Oil Wells
...Show More Authors

Oilwell cementing operations are crucial for drilling and completion, preserving the well's productive life. However, weak and permeable formations pose a high risk of cement slurry loss, leading to failure. Lightweight cement, like foamed cement, is used to avoid these difficulties. This study is focused on creating a range of foamed slurry densities and examining the effect of gas concentration on their rheological properties. The foaming agent and foam stabilizer are tested, and the optimal concentration is determined to be 2% and 0.12%, respectively, by the weight of the cement.

Furthermore, the construction of samples of foam cement with different densities (0.8, 1.0, 1.2, 1.4, and 1.6) g/cc is performed to f

The Pathological Mechanisms of Obesity-Related Glomerulopathy: A review article
...Show More Authors

The rising prevalence of obesity-related glomerulopathy (ORG) occurs in accordance with the rising prevalence of obesity worldwide. Clinically ORG is manifested by slowly progressing microalbuminuria that may develop to clinically evident proteinuria. Pathological characteristics of ORG include glomerular hypertrophy in the presence or absence of focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS). ORG can develop into clinically overt chronic renal insufficiency or even end-stage kidney disease. This article reviews the most important mechanisms for the development of ORG; that are abnormal renal hemodynamics, stimulation of renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system (RAAS), impairment of insulin sensetivity, ectopic lipid deposition, adipose tissue cy

Water Crisis and Its Relation to Achieving Sustainable Agricultural Development in Iraq (The Real Causes and Proposed Solutions)
...Show More Authors

The conservation of natural resources such as water is one of the areas that sustainable agriculture seeks to preserve, rationalize its use and protect it from pollution, because water is a specific factor for agriculture. Despite Iraq's possession of two international rivers, the Tigris and the Euphrates, which pour into the Shatt Al-Arab, it suffers from water shortages in recent times, As a result of several reasons combined, including water policies initiated by the riparian countries to reduce the quantities of water coming from the two rivers to Iraq, led by neighbor Turkey through the construction of dams and reservoirs and the establishment of irrigation projects, as well as climate changes from rising temperatures and lo

The Problem of International Finance and Efficiency of Local Savings in Financing for Development in Algeria: Standard study for the period (1970-2014)

The aim of this study is to investigate the nature of the relationship between domestic savings and domestic investment, or rather the efficiency of domestic savings in financing development in Algeria, in order to explain this relationship, identify the challenges to investment, and finance and accelerate economic growth. The economic measurement methodology has estimated the relationship between the savings rate and the local investment rate in the Algerian economy. We have annual data for the period 1970-2014. One of the most important conclusions is that there is no relationship between savings and investment, nor even an integration between them. To illustrate this, the use of some statistical tools, a

The present work presents design and implementation of an automated two-axis solar tracking system using local materials with minimum cost, light weight and reliable structure. The tracking system consists of two parts, mechanical units (fixed and moving parts) and control units (four LDR sensors and Arduino UNO microcontroller to control two DC servomotors). The tracking system was fitted and assembled together with a parabolic trough solar concentrator (PTSC) system to move it according to information come from the sensors so as to keep the PTSC always perpendicular to sun rays. In this paper, 3D simulation of the global coronal magnetic field, which use observed line of sight component of the photosphere magnetic field from (MDI/SOHO) was carried out using potential field model. The obtained results, improved the theoretical models of the coronal magnetic field, which represent a suitable lower boundary conditions (Bx, By, Bz) at the base of the linear force-free and nonlinear force free models, provides a less computationally expensive method than other models. Generally, very high speed computer and special configuration is needed to solve such problem as well as the problem of viewing the streamline of the magnetic field. For high accuracy special mathematical treatment was adopted to solve the computation comp
