Glass fiber–reinforced polymer (GFRP) reinforcement provides an effective alternative to conventional steel in concrete structures due to its corrosion resistance. Nevertheless, the lower elastic modulus of GFRP necessitates careful consideration of serviceability behavior in GFRP-reinforced concrete members. This study presents a numerical sectional analysis model for predicting the flexural response and ultimate capacity of hybrid reinforced concrete beams incorporating embedded GFRP profiles in combination with either mild steel or GFRP reinforcement bars under monotonic static loading. The proposed model employs realistic nonlinear stress–strain relationships for concrete and steel, together with secant moduli of elasticity evaluated at different loading stages. Particular emphasis is placed on detailed stress distribution in flexural sections, including the contribution of tension stiffening in the post-cracking regime. The formulation integrates nonlinear constitutive material behavior with theoretical sectional equilibrium to evaluate the effective flexural secant stiffness. For practical serviceability assessment and to reduce dependence on complex analytical procedures, strain vectors and stiffness matrix components are derived using elasticity coefficients that reflect modulus degradation obtained from numerical analysis. The accuracy of the model is verified through comparison with experimental results, including ultimate flexural capacity and moment–deflection responses. Many crucial parameters were studied, such as the longitudinal reinforcement ratio, type of reinforcement, concrete compressive strength, position of the I-GFRP profile, and rotation of the I-GFRP profile. The results of this study demonstrated that both the longitudinal reinforcement ratio and the rotation of the I-GFRP profile have a significant influence on the ultimate load capacity and deflection behavior. The close agreement between numerical predictions and experimental observations demonstrates the reliability and applicability of the proposed model for structural engineering analysis and design.
osion and deposition are natural phenomena in rivers that can be identified by using velocity profiles and shear stress as indicators. The Shatt Al-Arab River located south of Iraq suffers from these phenomena. Based upon the basic principles of hydraulics, it is reasonably easy to identify shear stress distributions within the river reach of the Shatt Al-Arab; and that will allow us to know the locations of the erosion and deposition. For this purpose, a 2D model using HEC-RAS software was developed to simulate the flow within the lower reach of Shatt Al-Arab. The results showed that the maximum shear stress at the right bank of Shatt Al- Arab reached 0.1N/m2 at 12 km upstream of Ras- Al-Bisha. This value of shear stress was recorded durin

Six beams were casted using self compacted concrete, and the two other beams were casted using normal concrete. The test was carried out on beams subjected to two point loads. The strain and the slip of the main reinforcement have been measured by using grooves placed during casting the beams at certain places. The measured strain used to calculate the longitudinal stresses (bond stress) surrounding the bar reinforcement, The study was investigated the using of self compacted concrete SCC on the embedded length of reinforcing bars, and comparing the results with normal concrete. Plain and deformed steel reinforcement bars were used in this investigation. The effect of bar diameter, concrete compressive strength and development length on bond-slip relation was detected. The results showed that the bond strength increases with increasing of compressive strength and with decreasing of bar diameter and development length. A nonlinear regression analysis for the experimental results yields in a mathematical correlation to predict the bond strength as a function of concrete compressive strength, reinforcing bar diameter and its yield stress. The frequency domain dynamic analysis procedure was used for response assessment. Reinforced concrete building models with different heights up to 50 stories were analyzed. The finite element software ETABS (version 16.0.3) was used to analyze reinforced concrete building models.
