Using Water Quality Index to Assess Drinking Water For AL-Muthana Project

The water quality index is the most common mathematical way of monitoring water characteristics due to the reasons for the water parameters to identify the type of water and the validity of its use, whether for drinking, agricultural, or industrial purposes. The water arithmetic indicator method was used to evaluate the drinking water of the Al-Muthana project, where the design capacity was (40000) m3/day, and it consists of traditional units used to treat raw water. Based on the water parameters (Turb, TDS, TH, SO4, NO2, NO3, Cl, Mg, and Ca), the evaluation results were that the quality of drinking water is within the second category of the requirements of the WHO (86.658%) and the first category of the standard has not been met due to defects in design and operation and the inlet and outlet values of dissolved minerals were very close due to the absence of soluble salt removal units in AL-Muthana project

An Evolutionary Bi-clustering Algorithm for Community Mining in Complex Networks

A network (or formally a graph) can be described by a set of nodes and a set of edges connecting these nodes. Networks model many real-world phenomena in various research domains, such as biology, engineering and sociology. Community mining is discovering the groups in a network where individuals group of membership are not explicitly given. Detecting natural divisions in such complex networks is proved to be extremely NP-hard problem that recently enjoyed a considerable interest. Among the proposed methods, the field of evolutionary algorithms (EAs) takes a remarkable interest. To this end, the aim of this paper is to present the general statement of community detection problem in social networks. Then, it visits the problem as an optim

A Comparative Analysis of the Zernike Moments for Single Object Retrieval

Zernike Moments has been popularly used in many shape-based image retrieval studies due to its powerful shape representation. However its strength and weaknesses have not been clearly highlighted in the previous studies. Thus, its powerful shape representation could not be fully utilized. In this paper, a method to fully capture the shape representation properties of Zernike Moments is implemented and tested on a single object for binary and grey level images. The proposed method works by determining the boundary of the shape object and then resizing the object shape to the boundary of the image. Three case studies were made. Case 1 is the Zernike Moments implementation on the original shape object image. In Case 2, the centroid of the s

PROPOSED STANDARDS FOR EVALUATING THE EDUCATIONAL VIDEO ON THE SOCIAL MEDIA

In the spreading of the Internet, mobile smart devices, and interactive websites such as YouTube, the educational video becomes more widespread and deliberative among users. The reasons for its spread are the prevalence of technologies, cheap cost, and easy to use. However, these products often lack to the distinction in video production. By following videos of an educational channel on YouTube, some comments found to discuss the lack of the content presented to motivate the learners, which lead to reduce the viewers of the videos. Therefore, there is an important decision to find general standards for the design and production of educational videos. A list of standards has been drawn up to help those interested in producing educational

A Comparison Between Two Shape Parameters Estimators for (Burr-XII) Distribution

This paper deals with defining Burr-XII, and how to obtain its p.d.f., and CDF, since this distribution is one of failure distribution which is compound distribution from two failure models which are Gamma model and weibull model. Some equipment may have many important parts and the probability distributions representing which may be of different types, so found that Burr by its different compound formulas is the best model to be studied, and estimated its parameter to compute the mean time to failure rate. Here Burr-XII rather than other models is consider  because it is used to model a wide variety of phenomena including crop prices, household income, option market price distributions, risk and travel time. It has two shape-parame

Surgery for wilms' tumor, Does Preoperative Chemotherapy Ease its Surgical Procedure?

Background: The optimal timing of surgery for Wilms' tumor has been debated for many years. It appears dubious whether surgical ease or per operative complications consistently improved after preoperative chemotherapy.

Materials and Methods: This is a cross section study ,the sample collected from January  2009  to November  2012 .Thirty four  patients were selected after informed consent . Patients aged between 10 months and 5 years who were newly diagnosed with Wilms' tumors. including (17)  patients  with unilateral wilms tumors received immediate nephrectomy without preoperative chemotherapy according to the National Wilms' Tumor Study Group protocol  and (1

Design and Simulation of Sliding Mode Fuzzy Controller for Nonlinear System

Sliding Mode Controller (SMC) is a simple method and powerful technique to design a robust controller for nonlinear systems. It is an effective tool with acceptable performance. The major drawback is a classical Sliding Mode controller suffers from the chattering phenomenon which causes undesirable zigzag motion along the sliding surface. To overcome the snag of this classical approach, many methods were proposed and implemented. In this work, a Fuzzy controller was added to classical Sliding Mode controller in order to reduce the impact chattering problem. The new structure is called Sliding Mode Fuzzy controller (SMFC) which will also improve the properties and performance of the classical Sliding Mode control

Application of WDR Technique with different Wavelet Codecs for Image Compression

Storing and transferring the images data are raised in recent years due to requisiteness of transmission bandwidth for considerable storage capacity. Data compression method is proposed and applied in an attempt to convert data files into smaller files. The proposed and applied method is based on the Wavelet Difference Reduction (WDR) as considered the most efficient image coding method in recent years. Compression are done for three different Wavelet based Image techniques using WDR process. These techniques are implemented with different types of wavelet codecs. These are Daub2+2,2 Integer Wavelet transform, Daub5/3 integer to integer wavelet transform, and Daub9/7 Wavelet transform with level four. The used mu

Back stepping-Based-PID-Controller Designed for an Artificial Pancreas model

Artificial pancreas is simulated to handle Type I diabetic patients under intensive care by automatically controlling the insulin infusion rate. A Backstepping technique is used to apply the effect of PID controller to blood glucose level since there is no direct relation between insulin infusion (the manipulated variable) and glucose level in Bergman’s system model subjected to an oral glucose tolerance test by applying a meal translated into a disturbance. Backstepping technique is usually recommended to stabilize and control the states of Bergman's class of nonlinear systems. The results showed a very satisfactory behavior of glucose deviation to a sudden rise represented by the meal that increase the blood glucose
