METAL COMPLEXES OF SEMICARBAZONE LIGAND DERIVED FROM MANNICH-β-AMINOCARBONYL: SYNTHESIS, STRUCTURAL CHARACTERISATION, THERMAL PROPERTIES AND BIOLOGICAL ACTIVITY

The synthesis of a new tridentate Schiff-base ligand and its metal complexes are reported. The reaction of ((2R)-4-methyl-2-((S)-(phenylamino)(p-tolyl) methyl) cyclohexan-1-one) with semicarbazide in a 1: 1 mole ratio resulted in the formation of the title ligand ((E)-2-((2S)-4-methyl-2-((R)(phenylamino)(ptolyl) methyl) cyclohexylidene) hydrazine-1-carboxamide)((HL). The reaction of the ligand with Co (II) and Ni (II), Cu (II), Zn (II) and Cd (II) ions in a 1: 1 (L: M) mole ratio gave the title complexes. Physico-chemical techniques were implemented, as required, to characterise the ligand and complexes. These include; elemental microanalysis, 1H, 13C-NMR and mass spectra, FT-IR and electronic spectra, magnetic susceptibility and conductance. These analyses revealed the isolation of octahedral, square planar and tetrahedral geometry about Co (II) and Cu (II); Ni (II); and (Zn (II), Cd (II)) ions, respectively. Thermal stability (TGA-DSC) of the ligand and selected complexes were also investigated. The antimicrobial activity of the ligand and its complexes against several bacterial strains and fungi species were examined. The collected data indicated that the complexes are more active against several kinds of organisms, under survey, compared with the free ligand.

Improvement of the Water Use Efficiency and Yield of Eggplant by Using Subsurface Water Retention Technology

Sustainable crop production in a coarse soil texture is challenging due to high water permeability and low soil water holding capacity. In this paper, subsurface water retention technology (SWRT) through impermeable polyethylene membranes was placed at depth 35 cm below ground surface and within the root zone to evaluate and compare the impact of these membranes and control treatment (without using the membranes) on yield and water use efficiency of eggplant inside the greenhouse. The study was conducted in Al-Fahamah Township, Baghdad, Iraq during spring growing season 2017. Results demonstrated the yield and water use efficiencies were 3.483 kg/m2 and 5.653 kg/m3, respectively for SWRT treatment p

Measurement Integration of business model disclosure with qualitative characteristics of accounting information (Relevant and Raithful Representation)

The research aims at integrating the disclosure of the business models with the qualitative characteristics of accounting information. To achieve this, the elements of the business model should be identified and disclosed, and then study the possibility of integrating the disclosure of the business model with the qualitative characteristics of accounting information.

To achieve this objective, the research was based on the indicators of disclosure of the business model of the International Accounting Standards Board to measure the disclosure of the business model.

The research reached a number of conclusions, the most important of which were as follows:

Effect of Mulching, Manures and chemical fertilizers on anatomical characters of (Solanum tuberosum L.) potato plants

Anatomy studies were carried out in the experimental field, College of Agriculture, University of Baghdad to have better understanding of the influence of mulching with black polyethylene sheets, organic manure and chemical fertilizer on the anatomy changes in potato shoot and leaves tissues. Results showed that leaves area, leaves area index and chlorophyll percentage were significantly increased by using mulching and chemical fertilizer by (7463.70 cm2, 3.97, 45.33 SPAD units) respectively. Also this treatment significantly increased total stomata number and in both lower and upper sides of the leaf by (957,721,176) stomata /mm2 respectively. But by using mulching treatment with organic manure significantly increased vessels and sieve t

THE EFFECT OF IRRIGATION INTERVAL AND SPRAYING WITH NANOFERTILIZER ON THE FLOWERING LIFE OF TOMATO PLANTS

This experiment was carried out in one of the fields (A) affiliated to the College of Agricultural Engineering Sciences / University of Baghdad, for the spring season 2021, On hybrid tomato plants (Mayai Mayai) to test flower viability, using two factors, the first was three levels of irrigation interval (2, 4, 6) days, and the second factor three concentrations of compound Nano fertilizer with concentrations (0, 1.5, 2.5) gm liter-1, so that the number of treatments is 9 treatments and three replications, the number of experimental units is 27 experimental units distributed randomly according to the random drawing method to ensure reducing experimental error and obtaining the most accurate results. A factorial experiment 3 x 3 x 3 was carr

The dialectic of the relationship between democracy and freedom in the political thought of karl popper

Recent studies agree that the democratic system in a country can only be established in an atmosphere of political and religious freedom. However, the term democracy and the term freedom have become controversial because their concepts remain multiple and different. Karl Popper is one of the most prominent philosophers in modern Western political thought, and one of the defenders of democracy as opposite to dictatorship. It has defined its function by its ability to restrain the ruling elite and to enforce it to prevent their tendency to tyranny. This can be achieved only in the context of the close relationship between democracy and freedom, so, if there is democracy in the absence of absolute freedom, democracy is a gateway to expandin

Evaluation of Rapid Chromatographic Immunoassay with Latex Agglutination Test and (ELISA) for Diagnosis of Human Toxoplasmosis

Background: there are different procedures for the diagnosis of females suspected with toxoplasmosis. However, time, cost, and accuracy of the test should meet patient’s needs.
Material and methods: one hundred and eleven female with suspected toxoplasmosis were under go three different procedures for the diagnosis of Toxoplasma gondii infection. Latex agglutination test, rapid chromatographic (immunoblot) and ELISA test were done for all patients. The results were described as frequency and percentage of positivity; also, specificity and sensitivity of immunoblot were assessed according to the result of other tests.
Results: The Latex test has shown 80% and 61.54% sensitivity and specificity respectively

The value of serological markers (CA19-9 & CCSA4) in the screening and prognosis of colon cancer

Background:- Colonic cancer is a very common disease world-wide being fourth most common cancer characterized by abnormal proliferation of the inner wall of colon at beginning then taking full colon wall thickness then to surrounding lymph nodes and tissues and finally metastasis.
Objective:- To evaluate the efficacy of serum CA19-9 and CCSA-4 levels in the screening and prognosis of colonic cancer and their validity for this.
Patients and methods:-This study was applied on 35 patients with colonic cancer, 35 patients with benign polyps and 16 negative controls. All individuals were subjected to blood sampling for measuring their serum CA19-9 and CCSA-4 using ELISA technique.
Results:-Our study shows that colonic cancer patients
