Objective: This study aimed to explore the social and physiological changes that Iraqi women may experience after a hysterectomy. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted at the consultation clinic of Al-Elwiya Maternity Teaching Hospital in Baghdad, Iraq. A total of 81 women who underwent emergency hysterectomy and could comprehend and respond to the questionnaire were recruited for this study. A structured, self-administered Arabic-language questionnaire was developed, and it included sociodemographic characteristics, surgical history, preoperative awareness, psychological symptoms, and sexual health impact. Results: The mean age of patients was 43.5 ± 10.6 years. Symptoms of depression, anxiety, and sadness decreased slightly after surgery, but 33.3% still struggled with persistent worry. Sexual difficulties were reported by 29.6%, and 37% experienced worsening partner relationships, while 55.6% reported improved sexuality over time. Logistic regression identified several predictors: depression was notably lower one year after surgery (p = 0.002), while higher education and ovary removal were linked to fewer sexual problems (p = 0.048, 0.011). There were no significant predictors for climax, arousal, pain, or self-confidence. Conclusions: While many women experience gradual improvements in emotional well-being and sexual function, a substantial proportion continue to face challenges. Age, education level, time since surgery, and ovary removal significantly influence recovery and adaptation. These findings highlight the importance of individualized post-surgical care, including psychological support and sexual health counseling, to enhance long-term quality of life.

The mutational spectrum of the F9 gene has not been adequately studied in Iraq. Objectives: To detect the disease-causing variants of exons 6, 7, and 8 and immediate introns of F9 gene using Sanger sequencing among Iraqi hemophilia B patients and to correlate them with phenotypes. Methods: Forty Iraqi hemophilia B patients were recruited for this cross-sectional study from The Hereditary Bleeding Disorder Ward in the Children Welfare Teaching Hospital, Medical City, Baghdad, between November 2021 and April 2022 using a consecutive sampling technique. For the detection of HER2/neu protein overexpression and gene amplification, immunohistochemistry (IHC) and in-situ hybridisation (ISH) is the recommended techniques, respectively, with high concordance between the two techniques. The current United Kingdom recommendations for HER2/neu testing are either for a two-tier system using IHC with reflex ISH testing in equivocal positive cases, or a one-tier ISH strategy. AIM: To compare the results of HER2/neu gene s

Cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) is an effective mediator in the pathogenesis of periodontitis. Polymorphisms in the COX-2 gene may contribute to its overexpression and increased disease susceptibility. To evaluate the association between -1195 A/G single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) in the promotor area of the cyclooxygenase-2(COX-2) gene and severity of chronic periodontitis in a sample of Iraqi population. -1195A/ G COX-2 SNP was investigated in 70 chronic periodontitis (CP) cases and 30 healthy controls. CP cases composed of 2 subgroups (35 moderate CP cases and 35 severe CP

An important factor in dentures construction is the mesiodistal width of anterior teeth, because a denture would not appearance natural if artificial teeth are of incorrect size. While for a successful orthodontic treatment, mesiodeistal width of teeth is important for space analysis and for establishing proper occlusion. The aim of this study is to determine the correlation between the average mesiodistal width of anterior and posterior teeth in male and female Iraqi population. 40 Iraqi subjects with normal occlusion participated in this study. Mesiodistal measurement of all teeth was carried out
