Adsorption of Bromo Phenol Red Dye from Aqueous Solution by Iraqi Bentonite Clay
...Show More Authors

This studies deals with investigated the potential of a Iraqi bentonite clay for the adsorption of bromo phenol red dye from contaminated water. Impulse adsorption experiments were performed. The contact time influence of initial dye concentration, temperature, pH, ionic strength, partical size adsorbent and adsorbent dosage on bromo phenol red adsorption are investigated in a series of batch adsorption experiments. Adsorption equilibrium data were analyzed and described by the Freundlich, Langmuir and temkin isotherms equations. Thermodynamic parameters inclusive the Gibbs free energy (∆G• ), enthalpy (∆H• ), and entropy (∆S• ), were also calculated. These parameters specified that adsorption of bromo phenol red onto bentonite was functional, more spontaneous and endothermic with increase of temperatures from 298.15 to 313.15 K.

Production and antibacterial activity of biosurfactant from Saccharomyces cerevisiae
...Show More Authors
Abstract<p>A total of four types of instant dry yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae which are Gloripan, Swan, Super Man (China) and Saf (Turkey), were obtained from the local market in Baghdad, Iraq. All the types were identified according to their morphological characteristics and screened for their ability to produce biosurfactant by oil spread method. Biosurfactant was extracted and partially purified by precipitation with ammonium sulfate at saturation ratio75%. Antibacterial activity of crude and partially purified biosurfactant was tested against twenty isolates of Pseudomonas aeruginosa and the results showed that crude biosurfactant has no</p> ... Synthesis of Composite from Bacterial Cellulose and Gold Nanoparticles
...Show More Authors
Abstract<p>A process of bacterial cellulose gold nanocomposite has been investigated based on experimental work and cited literature. A literature review on the production process is carried out in this study. Bacterial cellulose is a high crystalline fabric material generally used in biomedical applications. A Nanocomposite was made by synthesis from gold and bacterial cellulose. The experimental work includes growing, and isolating bacterial cellulose, preparation of gold Nanoparticles and preparation of Nano composite. Nanoparticle’s formation and adsorption on the cellulose tissue have been observed visually, where a colour change was observed. The predicted particle size for the gold nano</p> ... Show More

Methods of Achieving Mental Health from an Islamic Perspective
...Show More Authors

The aim of the research is to identify the methods of achieving mental health from an Islamic perspective by using an analytical approach. The methods that were explained: strengthen the spiritual side to control the motives and emotion s overcome the whims of the soul, fear of God and treat mental illness from an Islamic point of view by recognizing self, assurance, foresight, learning and acquiring new trends. Conclusion: we can achieve mental health by optimism, not despair, the compatibility of the Muslim with himself and with others, Consistency, emotional balance, and patience in difficult situations. Islam has attributes that make an individual feels    psychological security. Thus, all these elements achiev

Removal of Cadmium from Industrial Wastewater using Electrocoagulation Process
...Show More Authors

Cadmium is one of the heavy metal found in the wastewater of many industries. The electrocoagulation offers many advantages for the removal of cadmium over other methods. So the removal of cadmium from wastewater by using electrocoagulation was studied to investigate the effect of operating parameters on the removal efficiency. The studied parameters were the initial pH, initial concentration, and applied voltage. The study experiments were conducted in a batch reactor with  with two pairs of aluminum electrodes with dimension  and 2mm in thick with 1.5 cm space between them. The optimum removal was obtained at pH =7, initial concentration = 50 mg/L, and applied voltage = 20 V and it was 90%.

Heterogeneous Photocatalytic Degradation for Treatment of Oil from Wastewater
...Show More Authors

In the present study, advanced oxidation process / heterogeneous photocatalytic process (UV/TiO2/Fenton) system was investigated to the treatment of oily wastewater. The present study was conducted to evaluate the effect of hydrogen peroxide concentration H2O2, initial amount of the iron catalyst Fe+2, pH, temperature, amount of TiO2 and the concentration of oil in the wastewater.  The removal efficiency for the system UV/TiO2/Fenton at optimal conditions and dosage (H2O2 = 400mg/L, Fe+2 = 40mg/L, pH=5, temperature =30oC, TiO2=75mg/L) for 1000mg/L load was found to be 77%.

Removal of Tetracycline from Wastewater Using Circulating Fluidized Bed
...Show More Authors

In this study, the circulating fluidized bed was used to remove the Tetracycline from wastewater utilizing a pistachio shell coated with ZnO nanoparticles. Several parameters including, Tetracycline solution flowrate, initial static bed height, Tetracycline initial concentration and airflow rate were systematically examined to show their effect on the breakthrough curve and the required time to reach the adsorption capacity and thus draw the fully saturated curve of the adsorbent. Results showed that using ZnO nanoparticles will increase the adsorbent surface area and pores and as a result the adsorption increased, also the required time for adsorbent saturation increased and thus the removal efficiency may be achieved at mi
