The objective of study was determining the most prevalent Salmonella spp. and their antimicrobial susceptibility in broilers and laying chickens and their feed and drinking water in five chicken farms in Karbala, Iraq over the period from August to October 2020. A total of 289 samples, including 217 cloaca swabs, 46 water and 26 feed samples were collected. Salmonella spp. was identified firstly by routine diagnostic methods, followed by applying the API 20E kit, the Vitek2 system, and serology. There was significant differences in Salmonella prevalence among different types of samples, mainly cloaca swabs reported a high isolation rate (21.7%). In contrast, feed samples were completely free of contamination. The highest rate of isolation was in September on the 4th to 6th weeks of age. The presence of different Salmonella types in the collected samples excludes the possibility of outbreak occurrence among these farms. However, many isolates were diagnosed as S. paratyphi B. The tested isolates were 100% resistant to Ampicillin, Amikacin, Gentamicin, and Ciprofloxacin. By contrast, they were susceptible to Ceftazidime, Cefepime, and Ertapenem. The study provides an insight into the distribution and antimicrobial resistance of Salmonella spp. circulating in several poultry farms in Karbala, Iraq.
A series of coumarin derivatives linked to amino acid ester side chains were synthesized and evaluated of their antibacterial and antifungal activity. The coumarin derivatives was alkylated by the ethyl bromoacetate and then using potassium carbonate to get alkylated hymecromone. The study searches for the possibility of using duckweed Lemna spp. to reduce the concentration of heavy metals (zinc and iron) in the wastewater of Baghdad by culturing two different densities of the plant with a fresh weights 5 and 10 g/l and without the plant under optimum uncontrolled conditions. tract infections (UTIs) were examined for their ability to produce
proteolytic enzymes and their ability to form swarming growth. Most
(90%) of P. mirabilis and 60% of P. vulgaris isolates secreta
proteolytic enzymes. A strong correlation was found between the
ability of a strain to secreted proteases and it's ability to form
swarming growth. Non- swarming isolates invariably appeared to be
non- proteolytic. However, some isolates (12 isolates of P. vagaries)
were non- proteolytic even when they formed swarming growth

This study is concerned with the recent changes that occurred in the last three years (2017-2019) in the marshes region in southern Iraq as a result of the changes in the global climate, the study included all the water bodies in the five governorates that are located in the southern regions of Iraq (Wasit, Maysan, Dhi-Qar, Qadisiyah and Basrah), which represent the marshes lands in Iraq. Scenes of the Landsat 8 satellite are used to create a mosaic to cover the five governorates within a time window with the slightest difference between the date of the scene capture, not to exceed 8 days. During the period from September 2013 till the end of July 2014 ,a total of 340 birds Passer domesticus were collected from Tikrit city . The study revealed the infection of birds with seven species of cestoda helminthes , belonging to the genus Raillietin . These species included R. tetragona , R. echinobothrida , R. cesticellus and R. ransomi with prevalence infection of 36.1% , 30.1% . 15.0 % and 1.8 % respectively . And the genus Choanotaenia . These species included C. infundibulum and C. passerine with pervatence infection of 15.0% and 0.6% respectively . And the genus Anonchotuenia .
