NEW AZO-SCHIFF BASE DERIVED WITH Ni(II), Co(II), Cu(II), Pd(II) AND Pt(II) COMPLEXES: PREPARATION, SPECTROSCOPIC INVESTIGATION, STRUCTURAL STUDIES AND BIOLOGICAL ACTIVITY
...Show More Authors

The coordination ability of the azo-Schiff base 2-[1,5-Dimethyl-3-[2-(5-methyl-1H-indol-3-yl)-ethyl imino]-2-phenyl-2,3-dihydro-1H-pyrazol-4-ylazo]-5- hydroxy-benzoic acid has been proven in complexation reactions with Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), Pd(II) and Pt(II) ions. The free ligand (LH) and its complexes were characterized using elemental analysis, determination of metal concentration, magnetic susceptibility, molar conductivity, FTIR, Uv-Vis, (1H, 13C) NMR spectra, mass spectra and thermal analysis (TGA). The results confirmed the coordination of the ligand through the nitrogen of the azomethine, Azo group (Azo) and the carboxylate ion with the metal ions. The activation thermodynamic parameters, such as ΔE*, ΔH*, ΔS*, ΔG*and K are calculated from the TGA curves using Coats– Redfern method. Hyper Chem-8 program has been used to predict structural geometries of compounds in the gas phase. The synthesized ligands and their metal complexes were screened for their biological activity against bacterial species, two Gram positive bacteria (Bacillus subtillis and Staphylococcus aureus) and two Gram negative bacteria (Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aereuguinosa)

Electrochemical interferences of Mn2+ with Hg2+, Cd2+ and Cu2+ at different modified GCE
...Show More Authors

Glassy carbon electrode (GCE) was modified with carbon nanotubes CNT and C60 by attachment and solution evaporation techniques, respectively. CNT/Li+/GCE and C60/Li+/GCE were prepared by modifying CNT/GCE and C60/GCE in Li+ solution via cyclic voltammetry (CV) potential cycling. The sensing characteristics of the modified film electrodes, demonstrated in this study for interference of Mn2+ in different heavy metals ion esp. Hg2+, Cd2+ and Cu2+. The interfering effect was investigated that exert positive interference on the redox peaks of Mn2+. The modification of GCE with nano materials and Li+ act an enhancement for the redox current peaks to observe the effect of interference for Mn2+ in 1:1 ratio with different heavy metals ion.

A Class of Exponential Rayleigh Distribution and New Modified Weighted Exponential Rayleigh Distribution with Statistical Properties
...Show More Authors

This paper deals with the mathematical method for extracting the Exponential Rayleighh  distribution based on mixed between the cumulative distribution function of Exponential distribution and  the cumulative distribution function of Rayleigh distribution using an application (maximum), as well as derived different statistical properties for  distribution, and present a structure of a new distribution based on a modified weighted version of Azzalini’s (1985) named Modified Weighted Exponential Rayleigh  distribution such that this new distribution is generalization of the  distribution and provide some special models of the  distribution, as well as derived different statistical properties for  distribution

Preparation and Characterization of Lead Oxide Nanoparticles by Laser Ablation as Antibacterial Agent
...Show More Authors

In this work, lead oxide nanoparticles were prepared by laser ablation of lead target immersed in deionized water by using pulsed Nd:YAG laser with laser energy 400 mJ/pulse and different laser pulses. The chemical bonding of lead oxide nps was investigated by Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR); surface morphology and optical properties were investigated by Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) and UV-Visible spectroscopy respectively, and the size effect of lead oxide nanoparticles was studied on its antibacterial action against two types of bacteria Gram-negitive (Escherichia coli) and Gram-positive (Staphylococcusaurus) by diffusion method. The antibacterial property results show that the antibacterial activity of the Lead oxide NPs was

Physico-chemical and Biological Variables of Hospitals Wastewater in Erbil City
...Show More Authors

Three hospitals were chosen(Maternity hospital, Raperin hospital and Rhizgari hospital) for the present survey within Erbil city. Water samples were collected at regular monthly interval periods beginning in January 2012 to December 2012. pH of all the studied sites were found to be up 7. Electrical conductivity ranged from (1318-1790 μs.cm-1 in Maternity Hospital, 1770-2232 μs.cm-1 in Raperin Hospital, 1010-1615 μs.cm-1 in Rhizgari Hospital). BOD5 and COD values ranged from 22- 80 mg.L1 and 280- 1410 mg.L-1 respectively, this indicated a high pollution situation in the studied sites in respect to organic matter content. The quantitative analysis of counted microorganisms was more than that describe by WHO guidelines standard.

Biological Activities of Iraqi Fig (Ficuscarica) CrudeEthanolic and Total Flavonoids Extracts
...Show More Authors

The present study focuses on the biological strategy for treating cancer and parasitic infections, such as leishmaniasis antiparasitic activity, forthe crude alcoholic extract ofFicus leaves and their extracted total flavonoids with a comparison between their effects. The flavonoids were extracted from the leaves of the mature Ficuscaricausing the reflux extraction method. Total flavonoids were detected qualitatively by TLC techniquewhich demonstratedthat the plant was rich indifferent flavonoids, especially Rutin, Quercetin, Kaempferol, luteolin and others. Quantitatively, the plant total flavonoids content was 337.3 mg / 100 g fig leaves calculated as rutin. The biologicaleffects of the crude and purified total flavonoi

Automatic Detection of Sunspots Size and Activity using Matlab
...Show More Authors

A study is made about the size and dynamic activity of sunspot using automatically detecting Matlab code ''mySS .m'' written for this purpose which mainly finds a good estimate about Sunspot diameter (in km). Theory of  the Sunspot size has been described using  equations, where the growth and decay phases and the area of Sunspot could be calculated. Two types of images, namely H-alpha and HMI magnetograms, have been implemented. The results are divided into four main parts. The first part is sunspot size automatic detection by the Matlab program. The second part is numerical calculations of Sunspot growth and decay phases. The third part is the calculation of  Sunspot area. The final part is to explain the Sunspot activit

Extraction, Identification and Determination of di-(2ethylhexyl) Phthalate (DEHP) Plasticizer in Some Stored Blood Samples Bags Using Different Spectroscopic Techniques.
...Show More Authors

The di-(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP) was extracted using different solvents from plastic blood bag. The extracted product was identified using FT-IR, NMR (1H and 13C), DEPT, COSY, HMBC and HSQC_TOCSY spectrometry. The extracted plasticizer was tested in complex formation with Fe2+ and Cr3+ using UV-visible spectrophotometric method. The migration of the plasticizer from the blood bags to the blood was studied and determined during different storage times depending upon the formation of complexes with Fe2+ and Cr3+, and the change in the concentration of Fe2+ and Cr3+.
