Additionally, an increase in hepcidin levels by chronic inflammation causes iron insufficiency in obese people. Background: The prevalence of obesity is continuously rising world-wide. Obesity is an important risk factor of cardiovascular disease (CVD), metabolic syndrome (MS), and type 2 diabetes (T2D).
