Background: Hair loss is a frequent and distressing manifestation among patients with hypothyroidism. In addition to thyroid hormone imbalance, deficiencies in vitamins and minerals may contribute to impaired hair follicle function. Objective: This study aimed to assess serum vitamin and mineral profiles in patients with hypothyroidism-associated hair loss and to explore their relationship with thyroid hormone status. Methods: the study was conducted on a total of 90 participants, including 65 patients diagnosed with hypothyroidism-associated hair loss, 25 control - and sex-matched apparently healthy control subjects, groups aged 30 and over. Serum levels of vitamin D3, vitamin B12, zinc, iron, ferritin, calcium, magnesium, thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH), triiodothyronine (T3), and thyroxine (T4) were measured using standard laboratory techniques. Venous blood samples were collected for analysis of hematological, hormonal and biochemical parameters. Comparative and correlation analyses were performed to evaluate differences between patients and controls and to assess associations between biochemical parameters and hair loss. Results: Reduced serum levels of vitamin D3, vitamin B12 and calcium (P≤0.05), Iron (p < 0.01), ferritin (p < 0.01), Magnesium (p < 0.01) and zinc (p < 0.01) were commonly observed among patients with hair loss. Elevated TSH levels showed an inverse association with selected micronutrients, particularly iron stores and vitamin D3. No consistent association was found between calcium or magnesium levels and hair loss. Conclusion: Micronutrient deficiencies are common among patients with hair loss associated with hypothyroidism. Periodic assessment of vitamin and mineral levels can support overall clinical management and help improve hair health.
Objective To highlight the main demographic characteristics and clinical profiles of female patients registered with breast cancer in Iraq; focusing on the impact of age. Methods This retrospective study enrolled 1172 female patients who were diagnosed with breast cancer at the Main Center for Early Detection of Breast Cancer/Medical City Teaching Hospital in Baghdad. Data were extracted from an established information system, developed by the principal author under supervision of WHO, that was based on valid clinical records of Iraqi patients affected by breast cancer. The recorded information regarding clinical examination comprised positive palpable lumps, bloody nipple discharge, skin changes, bilateral breast involvement, tumor

It is a defect that results in weak heart valves and is therefore unable to function as precise pathways of the blood. The aim of the current study was to evaluate the ferroxidase activity of ceruloplasmin (Cp) and the lipid profile of valvular heart disease patients in sera. Ninety subjects were included in this study and 60 patients with HDV were divided into two subgroups according to the affected valve: 33 patients with aortic valve disease (AV) and 27 patients
The research aims to identify the rates of hair loss during pregnancy and lactation and its relation to the rates get some elements motivator urged through the results of the continued failure to meet the need of daily assessments of these elements, which led to the continuation of Hair Loss
Afamin, which is a human plasma glycoprotein, a putative multifunctional transporter of hydrophobic molecules and a marker for metabolic syndrome. Afamin concentration have been proposed to have a significant role as a predictor of metabolic disorders. Since NAFLD is associated with metabolic risk factors, e.g., dyslipidemia, insulin resistance and visceral obesity, it is considered as the hepatic manifestation of the metabolic syndrome. The objective of this study is to determine Afamin levels in hypothyroid patients with and without fatty liver disease and compare the results with controls. Also to study the relationship of Afamin level with the Anthropometric and Clinical Features (Age, Gender, BMI and Duration of Hypothyroidism) , Serum

It is possible to understand the significance of myo-inositol in treating the thyroid gland by relating it to the synthesis of thyroid hormones. Study aimed to estimate serum of inositol 1,4,5-triphosphate (IP3) in primary hypothyroidism disorder and through that level it can shed light on whether it is accused of inactivity of the thyroid gland and at the same time open the doors for the use as a treatment.
Subject and Methods: The study was taken from the analytical cross-sectional design.120 subjects were divided into three groups, the first group included 40 healthy subjects, the s

The disease is characterized by a cytokine release in severe conditions. Interleukin-6 (IL-6), a proinflammatory cytokine, mediates an important immunomodulatory process. Also, vitamin D was identified to have a role in the innate immunity of individuals. Our study was designed to find the role of IL-6 and vitamin D in COVID-19 patients, as well as, to see whether there is a link between vitamin D deficiency and cytokine syndrome development. The study included 90 COVID-19 patients and 30 control people from Baghdad, Iraq. The age of the participants was non-s

Recent studies have reported an increased oxidative stress and lipid peroxidation in such patients. This suggests that reactive oxygen species may have a role in the pathogenesis of lichen planus. Oxidative stress in OLP release molecules consisting of granzymes resulting in local tissue damage in the effectors. Antioxidants that can defend against oxidative stress in the body cells include enzymes, as well as non- enzymatic antioxidants, such as melatonin, uric acid, vitamin A and E. Purpose: To study the level of salivary vitamin E and uric acid as antioxidant agents in patients with OLP and compared with healthy con
