In this paper, a solar concentrator is designed in the form of a concave half-cylindrical mirror consisting of polygonal reflective surface plates. The plates are arranged to give a hemispherical shape to the design. These surfaces work to receive solar radiation and focusing by reflecting it to the receiver that is placed in front of the reflecting surfaces. The results are compared with a system consisting of a concave reflecting surface of the same dimensions to obtain a good criterion for evaluating the design performance. In this study azo dye was prepared by the reaction of m-phenylendidiazonium chloride with methyl salicylate, the resultant compound was used as a ligand for complex formation with Fe+2, Cu+2, Zn+2, Ni+2 and Co+2 ions. The prepared ligand was characterized by H1NMR, UV-Vis., And FTIR spectroscopy, CHN analysis, in addition the complexes were characterized by TGA, UV-Vis., FTIR and conductivity methods. The results indicate that the ligand chelated through phenoxy and carboxyl groups as a O4 quadra dentate ligand, the Co complex complet its hexagon coordination by bonding with chlorine and the complex wouid be electrolytic in opposite with rest complexes.

In this research the specific activity of natural radionuclides 226Ra, 232Th and 40K were determined by sodium iodide enhanced by thallium NaI(TI) detector and assessed the annual effective dose in Dielac 1 and 2 and Nactalia 1 and 2 for children of less than 1 year which are available in Baghdad markets. The specific activity of 40K has the greater value in all the types which is in the range of allowed levels globally that suggested by UNSCEAR. The mean value of annual effective doses were 2.92, 4.005 and 1.6325 mSv/y for 226Ra, 232Th and 40K respectively.
