Background: Red onion (Allium cepa L.) peels represent an abundant agricultural byproduct rich in bioactive flavonoids, yet their therapeutic potential against aggressive breast cancer models remains poorly characterized. This study aimed to extract and purify anthocyanins from red onion peels, characterize their active constituents, and evaluate their selective in vitro cytotoxicity against the triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) cell line CAL-51 relative to non-tumorigenic Normal Human Fibroblast (NHF) cells. Methods: Anthocyanins were extracted with acidified aqueous ethanol, purified using silica gel G60 column chromatography and characterized by reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography (RP-HPLC). Cytotoxicity was evaluated through 72-hour MTT assays on CAL-51 and NHF cells, confirmed by phase-contrast morphological analysis and analyzed using one-way ANOVA. Results: Through RP-HPLC, malvidin and peonidin were characterized as the major monomeric anthocyanidins. According to the results, the purified extract demonstrated a potent and cell line-dependent dose effect for the cytotoxicity of CAL-51 cells with IC50 = 247.5 μg/mL (maximum inhibition: 63.73% at 1000 µg/mL), accompanied by morphological hallmarks of apoptosis. In contrast, the extract exhibited much lower toxicity against NHF cells (IC50=1767 µg/mL; maximum inhibition: 17.39% at 10,000 µg/mL), resulting in a good selectivity index of 7.1. Conclusion: Purified red onion peel anthocyanins were powerful, selective anti-proliferative and pro-apoptotic agents against TNBC in vitro without harming normal cells. This sets a path to exploiting agricultural waste as a source of potential natural therapeutic agents for the individualised treatment of breast cancer in an economically viable manner.
Background: Healing of a tooth extraction socket is a complex process involving tissue repair and regeneration. It involves chemotaxis of appropriate cells into the wound, Transformation of undifferentiated mesenchymal cells to osteoprogenitor cells, proliferation and differentiation of committed bone forming cells, extracellular matrix synthesis, mineralization of osteoid, maturation and remodeling of bone. These cellular events are precisely controlled and regulated by specific signaling molecules. Some of these like transforming growth factor beta (TGF-?), vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), bone morphogenetic proteins (BMP) and insulin like growth factors (IGF) are well conserved proteins involved in the initial response to injur

Brief notes are provided in distinguishing the parasitoid from other closely allied species.

In this study, the fission track registration technique with the CR-39 detector are using to determination the uranium concentrations for seventeen samples of teeth distributed in four districts in Baghdad City .Five samples taken from both Al-Durra District and Al-Jadiriyia District, Four samples taken from Al-Karrda (Alaatar street) Taken four samples and three samples taken from Al-Zuafrania and by 0.5gm in weight and 1.5 mm in thickness. The uranium concentrations in teeth samples measured by using fission tracks registration in (CR-39) track detector that caused by the bombardment of (U) with thermal neutrons from (241 Am-Be) neutron source that has flux of (5 ×103 n cm-2 s-1). In this paper, the researchers investigate Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's speech before a joint session of the US Congress on July 25, 2024. The researchers primarily aim at highlighting the ideology behind Netanyahu's speech by using qualitative research through the application of critical discourse analysis (CDA), which is employed here in in order to show how certain linguistic choices can manipulate and determine concepts related to power and ideology. The CDA method used is Discourse Historical Approach with the main focus on argumentation management through discursive strategies. The researchers adopt DHA by Wodak (2009) with focusing on the taxonomy of social actor representation by Van Leeuwen (2008). The study reveals th

The pre-stage research was based on cascading single mode fiber and polarization maintaining fiber to get pulse compression with compression factor of 1.105. The demand for obtaining more précised photonic devices; this work experimentally studied the behavior of Polarization maintaining fiber PMF that is sandwiched between two cascaded singe mode fiber SMF and fiber Bragg gratings FBG.
