Efficient Removal of Brilliant Green Dye Using Mesoporous Attapulgite Clay: Investigating Adsorption Kinetics, Isotherms, and Mechanisms
...Show More Authors

The study involved the effectiveness of Iraqi attapulgite (IQATP) clay as an environmentally friendly material that easily adsorbs brilliant green (BG) dye from water systems and is identified by various complementary methods (e.g., FTIR, SEM‐EDS, XRD, ICP‐OES, pHpzc, and BET), where the result reported that the IQATP specific surface area is 29.15 m2/g. A systematic analysis was selected to evaluate the impact of different effective adsorption performance variables on BG dye decontamination. These variables included IQATP dosage (0.02–0.8 g/L), solution pH (3.05–8.15), contact time (ranging from 2 to 25 min), and initial BG dye concentration from 20 to 80 mg/L. The parameters of kinetic profiles were best represented by the (P‐2‐O) model with the determination of coefficient (R2, 0.99), and the corresponding equilibrium data of dye provided a good fit of the Freundlich adsorption model with a maximal multilayer IQATP adsorption capacity (Qmax, = 1.41 mg/g) under optimum conditions (temperature 318 K, pH 3.05, optimum equilibrium time 25 min, and IQATP dosage 0.2 g/L) for BG dye removal. Thermodynamic parameters, including ΔG = −5.67, −6.10, and −7.56 kJ/mol, ΔH = 29.89 kJ/mol, ΔS = 118.73 J/mol·K, and activation energy Ea = 14.38 kJ/mol, were calculated to understand the adsorption process. This trend indicates an endothermic, spontaneous, and favorable adsorption profile for basic dye by IQATP. The adsorption mechanism was elucidated, indicating the involvement of electrostatic attractions, hydrogen bonding, and n − π interactions in the adsorption of cationic dye. Desorption experiments of BG by IQATP with five repetition cycles showed a great desorption percentage when using 0.1 M hydrochloric acid (HCl), as the eluting agent. Overall, the findings highlight IQATP as a promising and desirable natural adsorbent for the efficient removal of cationic dyes.

Evaluation of the Properties of Magnetite (Fe3O4) Nanoparticles Prepared by the Green Method Using Phoenix dactylifera Extract
...Show More Authors

Iron oxide (Fe3O4) nanoparticles were synthesized via an eco-friendly green approach by adding Phoenix dactylifera extract to the aqueous solution of ferric chloride. The effect of annealing temperature (Ta) (100-150) °C on particle size was studied. X-ray diffraction (XRD), UV-visible spectroscopy, atomic force microscopy (AFM), and field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM) were used to evaluate the produced nanoparticles. According to XRD spectra, the crystallite size of the samples was determined using the Scherrer formula. AFM and FE-SEM were used to determine surface morphology. A UV-Vis optical spectroscopic examination was carried out to determine the band gap energy of the iron oxide nanoparticles. It was found th

Preparation and Formation of Zeolite 5A from Local Kaolin Clay for Drying and Desuphurization of Liquefied Petroleum Gas
...Show More Authors

This work deals with preparation of zeolite 5A from Dewekhala kaolin clay in Al-Anbar region for drying and desulphurization of liquefied petroleum gas. The preparation of zeolite 5A includes treating kaolin clay with dilute hydrochloric acid 1N, treating metakaolin with NaOH solution to prepare 4A zeolite, ion exchange, and formation. For preparation of zeolite 4A, metakaolin treated at different temperatures (40, 60, 80, 90, and 100 °C) with different concentrations of sodium hydroxide solution (1, 2, 3, and 4 N) for 2 hours. The zeolite samples give the best relative crystallinity of zeolite prepared at 80 °C with NaOH concentration 3N (199%), and at 90 and 100°C with NaOH concentration solution 2N (184% and 189%, respectively). Background : Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) is one of chronic gastrointestinal diseases in which patient may be asymptomatic or was complained from heartburn and regurgitation or pulmonary symptoms. Aim of the study : Examine the serum level of sHLA-G in GERD patients and can be used as a biomarker for early detection of GERD disease. Materials and methods : The design of the study was a case- control prospective enrolled forty patients consulted Gastroenterology Unit- Al-Kindy Teaching Hospital, were diagnosed as GERD by their physician, and compared to second forty control healthy group form January-2023 to May-2024. Serum used for quantitative assessment of soluble HLA-G (sHLA-G) using a sandwich enzyme-linked immunosorbent a

Investigating the Mastering of the Pronunciation of Weak and Strong Forms of English Function Words
...Show More Authors

The weak and strong forms are so called because it is not their lexical content that primary matter, but the role they have in the sentence. The problematic confusion, our students encounter, in recognizing and producing the correct pronunciation of weak and strong forms of the English function words is the main incentive behind conducting  this study. In order to gather the data, this paper used two types of tests: a recognition test and a production test. The general results reached  through the analysis of the students' answers seem to conform to the researcher's assumption: students face a critical problem in recognizing and producing correct pronunciation of the weak and strong forms of the English funct

Kinetic and Isotherm Modeling of Adsorption of Dyes onto Sawdust
...Show More Authors

Sawdust has the ability to adsorb the dyestuff from aqueous solution. It may be useful low cost adsorbent for the treatment of effluents, discharged from textile industries. The effectiveness of sawdust has been tested for the removal of color from the wastewater samples containing two dyes namely Direct Blue (DB) and Vat Yellow (VY). Effect of various parameters such as agitation time, adsorbent dose and initial concentration of each dye has been investigated in the present study. The adsorption of dyes has been tested with various adsorption isotherm models. The Langmuir isotherms model is found to be the most suitable one for the dye adsorption using sawdust and the maximum adsorption capacity is 8.706 mg/g and 6.975 mg/g for DB and V

OPTIMIZATION OF LEVOFLOXACIN REMOVAL FROM AQUEOUS SOLUTION USING ELECTROCOAGULATION PROCESS BY RESPONSE SURFACE METHODOLOGY
...Show More Authors

This study was aimed to investigate the response surface methodology (RSM) to evaluate the effects of various experimental conditions on the removal of levofloxacin (LVX) from the aqueous solution by means of electrocoagulation (EC) technique with stainless steel electrodes. The EC process was achieved successfully with the efficiency of LVX removal of 90%. The results obtained from the regression analysis, showed that the data of experiential are better fitted to the polynomial model of second-order with the predicted correlation coefficient (pred. R2) of 0.723, adjusted correlation coefficient (Adj. R2) of 0.907 and correlation coefficient values (R2) of 0.952. This shows that the predicted models and experimental values are in go

Removal of Suspended Solids Using Pumice Stone in Integrated Fixed Film Activated Sludge Process
...Show More Authors

Wastewater treatment plants operators prefer to make adjustments because they are more cost effective, to use the existing tank instead of building new ones. In this case an imported materials would be  used as bio-loads to increase biomass and thus maintain efficiency as the next organic loading increases. In the present study, a local substance "pumice stone" was used as a biological carrier in the aeration tank, and the experiments were carried out in five stages: without biological carriers, filling ratio of 4%,10%,20%, and25% with pumice stone, the maximum organic loading at each stage (1.1884, 1.2144, 1.9432, 2.7768, 3.3141)g BOD /l.d respectively.Other experiments were carried out to determine the best filling ratio, the SS remova
