The corrosion behavior of Zn in 0.1 M HCl solution containing various concentration of Ampicillin range (2 x 10-4 – 1x10-3) M was investigated. The corrosion rates were measured by using weight loss measurement and polarization curve, The results of polarization method obtained showed that the rate of corrosion of zinc increased with increasing the temperature from 293K to 323K and the values of inhibition efficiency of ampicillin increased with increasing the temperature and AMP concentrations, the results showed that AMP caused to protection efficiency reached to 88.8% when (1x10-3) M AMP concentration was used in 323K. The objective of this study was to assess the nutritional status of childs of nurseries in Baghdad city so that an early detection of malnutrition cases could be carried out. The results revealed that the daily consumption of food calories, protein, fat and carbohydrate were 1180.5 calories, 27.2gm, 38gm and 180gm, respectively, which were less than the RDA values and the percentages of these nutrients supplied by the food intake were 90.8, 83.7, 87.3 and 90.3%, respectively. The protective effect of benfotiamine against doxorubicin-induced cardiotoxicity was evaluated in rabbits. Pretreatment of rabbits with 70mg/kg benfotiamine orally 7 days before induction of cardiotoxicity with I.V 15mg/kg doxorubicin. injection resulted in significant reduction of the activities of lactate dehydrogenase and creatine phosphokinase enzyme in the serum compared to doxorubicin treated animals; benfotiamine also improves the histological changes produced by doxorubicin in the cardiac muscle compared to control. In conclusion, benfotiamine when used concomitantly with doxorubicin protects the myocardium against the cardiotoxicity induced by this cytotoxic drug.

Background: Urinary tract infection (UTI) is the most common bacterial infection in women in general and in postmenopausal women in particular.
