Transition metal complexes of Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), and Zn(II) with 2-(4-antipyrine azo)-4-nitroaniline derived from 4-aminoantipyrine and 4-nitroaniline were synthesized. Characterization of these compounds has been done on the basis of elemental analysis, electronic data, FT-IR, UV-Vis and 1HNMR, as well as magnetic susceptibility and conductivity measurements. The nature of the complexes formed were studied following the mole ratio and continuous variation methods, Beer's law obeyed over a concentration range (1×10-4 - 3×10-4 M). High molar absorbtivity of the complex solutions were observed. From the analytical data, the stoichiometry of the complexes has been found to be 1:2 (metal:ligand). On the basis of physicochemical data octahedral geometries were assigned for the complexes. The ligand and metal complexes were screened for their antimicrobial activity.

Polymer electrolytes were prepared using the solution cast technology. Under some conditions, the electrolyte content of polymers was analyzed in constant percent of PVA/PVP (50:50), ethylene carbonate (EC), and propylene carbonate (PC) (1:1) with different proportions of potassium iodide (KI) (10, 20, 30, 40, 50 wt%) and iodine (I2) = 10 wt% of salt. Fourier Transmission Infrared (FTIR) studies confirmed the complex formation of polymer blends. Asthma is a chronic inflammatory disease affecting 5% of the world population. FKBP51 is an important immunophilin modular protein of the glucocorticoid receptor (GC).
The aim of the present study was to evaluate the levels and immunocytochemical distribution of FKBP51 and GR in lymphocyte cells of asthmatic patients, by use of immunocytochemistry method, and to assesslevels ofstress hormones (cortisol and ACTH) by radioimmuniassay (RIA).
The results showed significantly increased nuclear localization and decreasedcytoplasmic distribution of FKBP51, while they showed a significant increase in nuclear localization and a non-significant decrease in cytoplasmic distribution of GRin asthmatic patients(P<0.05).
