The avian esophagus shows structural and functional differences related to feeding habits and habitat, with mucous secretions and amino acids playing key roles in protection and metabolism. The present study aimed to comparatively investigate the histological, histochemical, and amino acid profile characteristics of the cervical esophagus in the Iraqi pin-tailed sandgrouse (Pterocles alchata) and the red-wattled lapwing (Vanellus indicus). A total of eight adult individuals from each bird species (sandgrouse and lapwing) were collected from the Al-Samawah Desert, Al-Muthanna Province, and AlYusufiyah District, Baghdad Governorate, Iraq, respectively, between October 2025 and January 2026. Histological examination was performed using hematoxylin and eosin (H&E), Masson’s trichrome, periodic acid–Schiff (PAS), and Alcian blue (AB, pH 2.5) stains. Amino acid profiles of cervical esophageal tissues were analyzed using highperformance liquid chromatography (HPLC). The histological results demonstrated that the cervical esophagus in both bird species consisted of three main layers: tunica mucosa, tunica muscularis, and tunica adventitia, while the tunica submucosa and muscularis mucosae were absent. The mucosa was lined by non-keratinized stratified squamous epithelium supported by a collagen-rich lamina propria. In the Iraqi pin-tailed sandgrouse, the esophageal glands were located mainly within the lamina propria, whereas in the red-wattled lapwing, they appeared as intraepithelial glands. Histochemical staining revealed strong PAS reactivity and moderate AB reactivity in the mucous secretions of both bird species, indicating the presence of neutral and acidic mucopolysaccharide. The HPLC analysis identified 18 amino acids in the cervical esophageal tissues of both species. Glutamine showed the highest concentration, whereas methionine exhibited the lowest concentration in both birds. Most amino acids did not differ significantly between the two species (p > 0.05). However, glutamic acid showed a significant increase in the Iraqi pin-tailed sandgrouse compared with the red-wattled lapwing (p ≤ 0.05). The present findings suggest that the cervical esophagi of both bird species may exhibit structural and biochemical adaptations associated with feeding habits and ecological conditions
Background: Bone augmentation techniques are commonly employed in medical fields. This biomaterial system must be readily available, easily applicable by minimally-invasive technique and able to release an osteoinductive growth factor. Such a system will be able to engineer new bone formation locally at the site of injection. Hyaluronic acid has osteogenic potential that can be exploited not only for repairing bone defects but also for providing transplantable bone for the reconstruction of a variety of bone defects. The aims of this study were to evaluate the effects of Hyaluronic acid gel on bone healing by immunohistochemical estimation of transforming growth factor -beta 3 in experimental and control groups. The current study deals with a description and comparison of the morphology and morphometric characters of this species for the first time in Iraq.
The lead-acid battery has become so dependable in its used applications of automobile starting, emergency lighting and telecommunications, which left an impression that no further investigation is necessary or desirable. While there has been slow continuous improvements in lead-acid battery performance and mainly limited to design and material engineering. This work is mainly devoted to the properties of the active mass of the positive electrode and the acid/water ratio during the manufacturing process. A field study is carried out at the State Battery Manufacturing Company located in Baghdad, to prepare batches of lead mono-oxide with predefined quantities of liquid additives (i.e. sulfuric acid and water). Some of these features such us molecular composition, rheological, viscosity and emulsions are studied carefully by researchers. In this work, a comparative study of the linear and the non-linear optical properties for typical heavy and light crude oils of Iraqi origin was studied utilizing Z-scan technique. The He -Ne laser of wavelength 632.8 nm had been used for this purpose. These samples were collected from Basra and Kut oil fields. The values of the non-linear refractive index (n2), non-linear absorption coefficient (β), and third-order electrical susceptibility (χ3) were e

disorders in patients with type-ΙΙ diabetes mellitus and compare the results with the control group.
Methodology: Blood samples were collected from (35) patients with type-ΙΙ diabetes mellitus, besides (35) healthy
individuals as a control group were enrolled in this study. The age of all subjects range from (20-50). Serum was
used in determination of glucose, insulin, lipid profile (cholesterol (Ch), triglyceride (TG), high-density lipoprotein
