Impact of defect-containing graphene oxide nanosheets on the structural, electrical, and dielectric characteristics of graphene oxide
...Show More Authors

In this work, two graphene oxide (GO) samples were prepared using the Hummers method with graphite (g) and KMnO4 (g) ratios of 1:3 (GO3) and 1:6 (GO6). The effect of oxidation degree on the structural, electrical, and dielectric properties of the GO samples was investigated. The structures of the GO samples were studied using various techniques, including X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDXS). XRD analysis revealed an increase in the interlayer spacing and a decrease in the number of layers of the samples with increasing oxidant content. The two GO samples have giant permittivity values of ~105 in the low-frequency range. The characteristics of the functional groups and defects were clarified in terms of their high permittivity. The AC conductivity of the GO samples obeyed Jonscher’s power law. The AC conductivities of GO3 and GO6 were calculated as 0.07 and 0.01 S/m at 1 MHz, respectively. The power exponent s has values in the range 0 < s < 1. In addition, a low loss tangent was observed for GO6 in the high-frequency range. Measuring the Social Responsibility and its Impact on the Financial Performance of Banks: Applied Research in the Iraqi National Bank
...Show More Authors

The objective of the research is to measure the impact of social responsibility on the financial performance of the National Bank of Iraq for the period from 2014 to 2016 (3 years) through discussing and analyzing the level of practice of the Bank of Baghdad for social responsibility and the impact on their financial performance during the period. To measure the independent variable (CSR), the researcher used the CSR Disclosure Index and relied on the ROA as an indicator to measure the dependent variable (financial performance). The results of the research showed the main hypothesis of the research, which states that the social responsibility of the banks has no significant impact on the financial performance. In relation to the disclosu

THE IMPACT OF MONEY MATTERS ON THE CHARACTERS IN MURIEL SPARK’S NOVEL THE BALLAD OF PECKHAM RYE
...Show More Authors

Money matters exert a considerable influence on man’s life-style, social
rank and his relationship with other people. This paper aims at exploring the impact
of money matters on the characters’ inner feelings, social status, and personal
relationships in Muriel Spark’s modern novel The Ballad Of Peckham Rye. This
paper aspires to show that Spark’s subtle portrayal of characters reveals the
dominance of money matters over human and social relationships.
Muriel Spark ( 1918-2006) is a modern Scottish novelist whose wit and
detached sense of humour has brought her prolific body of both popular and critical
acclaim. Spark is interested not in building suspense but in exploring the moral
significance of the

Impact of Aggregate Gradation and Filler Type on Marshall Properties of Asphalt Concrete
...Show More Authors

As asphalt concrete wearing course (ACWC) is the top layer in the pavement structure, the material should be able to sustain stresses caused by direct traffic loading. The objective of this study is to evaluate the influence of aggregate gradation and mineral filler type on Marshall Properties.  A detailed laboratory study is carried out by preparing asphalt mixtures specimens using locally available materials including asphalt binder (40-50) penetration grade, two types of aggregate gradation representing SCRB and ROAD NOTE 31 specifications and two types of  mineral filler including limestone dust and coal fly ash. Four types of mixtures were prepared and tested. The first type included SCRB specification and

Synthesis, Characterization and Study of Mesomorphic Behavior of New Bent and Liner Core Compounds Containing Heterocyclic
...Show More Authors

We described herein the synthesized and characterized of new bent and liner core compounds containing thiazolidin-4-one ring[XI-XIII] and [XIV-XVI] respectively. These compounds synthesized by sequence reactions starting from reaction resorcinol or hydroquinone with chloracetyl chloride to yield compounds [I] and [II] ,then the later compounds reactant with 4-hydroxybenzylaldehyde to product dialdehyde compounds [III] and [IV] .The Schiff bases compounds[V-VII] and [VIII-X] synthesized from reaction the compound [III] or [IV] with different aromatic amines, while the bent and liner core mesogens containing thiazolidin-4-one ring [XI-XIII] and [XIV-XVI] synthesized from reaction Schiff bases compounds[V-VII] or [VIII-X] with thioglycolic aci

Synthesis, Characterization, and Study of Anticancer Activities of New Schiff Bases and 1,3-Oxazepine Containing Drug
...Show More Authors

Objective: This study involved the synthesis of new Schiff bases and 1,3-oxazepine derivatives from the baclofen drug and study the anticancer activities. Methods: Baclofen was initially reacted with aromatic aldehydes to create Schiff base derivatives (Ia–Ib), which were then closed in the next step using anhydrous acids to form oxazepine derivatives (IIa–IId). Results: The title compounds were synthesized successfully and identified using FT-IR, 1H NMR, and 13C NMR spectroscopy. Additionally, compound (IIc)’s (3-(4-chloro-phenyl)-4-[2-(4nitro-phenyl)-4,7-dioxo-4,7-dihydro-[1,3] oxazepin-3-yl]butyric acid) anticancer activity was assessed using MTT assay against FTC-133 (thyroid cancer) compared with WRL-68 (normal cell line). Synthesis and characterization of new liquid crystals compounds containing to the 1,2,4-oxadiazole unite derived from phthaloyl chloride
...Show More Authors

In this work, new compounds containing 1,2,4-oxadiazole units were synthesized, characterized, and their crystalline liquid qualities were also studied. The synthesis of compound [I ] starts with the reaction 4-hydroxybenzonitrile with phthaloyl chloride to yield nitrile compound. Then the later compound reacted with hydroxyl amine hydrochloride to obtain compound [II]. Next, 1,2,4-Oxadiazole compounds [III]a-c and [IV] were obtained by the reaction between compound [II] with various acid chlorides(acetyl chloride, chloroacetyl chloride, benzoyl chloride) and phthaloyl chloride in pyridine, respectively. FTIR, 1HNMR and mass spectroscopy were used to analyze the synthesized compounds Spectroscopic investigation verified the synthetic

Assessment of The Impact of Apremilast on Levels of IL-17, IL-23, and Lipids in Obese Psoriatic Patient
...Show More Authors

Background: Psoriasis is an immune-mediated inflammatory disease with unknown aetiology that may be associated with the defect in proliferation and differentiation of the keratinocytes related to inflammatory cell infiltration. According to published reports, it is universal in occurrence; its prevalence in different populations varies from 0.1% to 11.8%. Receiving Apremilast resulted in a strong reduction in interleukin 17 and interleukin 23, as well as reduced expression of other inflammatory cytokines and improvement of psoriatic lesions. Objectives: This study aimed to assess the impact of Apremilast on levels of IL-17, IL-23, and lipids in obese psoriatic patients. Methods: Thirty obese patients with psoriasis were included in

Volumetric Change of Concrete Containing Water Absorption Polymer Balls
...Show More Authors

Polymers have the ability to extract water after they have been added to the mortar or concrete mixture. They provide the absorbed water during hydration functioning as internal water source. Absorption polymers can absorb up to hundred times of their own weight of pure water. This research deals with the use of water absorption polymer balls in concrete and study the volumetric change of these mixes and compared the results with reference mix (without polymers). Samples were cured both in air and in water for the mixes to compare results which show that samples in air behave for expansion while sample in water acted for shrinkage.
