Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the effect of coating titanium (Ti) dental implant with polyether ketone ketone (PEKK) polymer using magnetron sputtering on osseointegration, trying to overcome some of the problems associated with Ti alloys. Material and Methods: Implants were prepared from grade (II) commercially pure titanium (CP Ti), then laser was used to induce roughness on the surface of Ti. PEKK was deposited on the surface of Ti implants by radiofrequency (RF) magnetron sputtering technique. The implants were divided in to three groups: without coating (Ls), with PEKK coating using argon (Ar) as sputtering gas (Ls-PEKK-Ar), and with PEKK coating using nitrogen (N) as sputtering gas (Ls-PEKK-N). All the implants were implanted in the femoral bones of rabbits. After three different healing periods (2, 6, and 12 weeks) the rabbits were sacrificed for a mechanical examination (removal torque) and for histological examination. Results: The results revealed a significant increase in the removal torque mean values when using PEKK coating on Ti implants, with the highest value recorded by Ls-PEKK-N group. Histologically, the study demonstrated the progression of osteogenesis during all the research periods. It was observed that the Ls-PEKK-N group had the highest percentage of new bone formation in all healing periods. Conclusion: The use of PEKK as coating material on the surface of Ti implants by RF- magnetron sputtering results in an increase in the torque required to remove implants and enhance bony tissue formation around the implants especially when using nitrogen as a sputtering gas.
A new poly chain derivative of polyacrolein has been synthesized from the two basic precursors, polyacrolein and aromatic amine/substituted amine in chloroform to prepare poly Schiff base compounds (A1-A4). The novel poly subs.β-lactam derivative is obtained via coupling of poly schiff base with chloroacetyl chloride and trimethylamine (B1-B4). Newly synthesized compound was identified via spectral methods; their [13C-NMR, 1H-NMR, and FTIR] also measurement of some of its physical properties. Furthermore the inhibition effect of synthesized compounds (B1-B4) on the corrosion of stainless steel in 1N HCl was studied by wight loss method. The results of weight loss measurements showed that corrosion inhibition efficiency by increasing the co

Previously, chemical cathodes were used, which were application restrictions due to operational expenses are quite high, low levels of long-term viability and high toxicity. A pure oxygen cathode was using, external resistance 50 and 150 k Ω were studied with two concentrations of NaCl in the desalination chamber 15-25 g/L which represents the concentration of brackish water and sea water. The highest energy productivity was obtained, which amounted to 44 and 46 mW/m3, and the maximum limit for desalination of saline water was (31% and 26%) for each of 25 g / L and 15 g / L, respectively, when using an ex

The effects of thickness on absorption coefficient, reflectance, refractive index, extinction coefficient, real and imaginary parts of dielectric constant were estimated. It was found that the reflectivity, absorption coefficient , extinction coefficient, real part of dielectric constant and refractive index, all these parameters decrease as the thickness increased, while the imaginary part of the dielectric constant increase as the thickness incre

This study investigates the employment of social personalities in the commercial advertising design in order to pinpoint the importance of employing celebrities and their representation in the advertisement to convey the meaning that signifies the advertisement goal. Thus the question of the study is: "What are the mechanisms of employing celebrities in the d

It arises through the designer’s internal mental intuition to produce shapes based on subjective feelings that refer his preconceptions about those shapes with his feelings to creative formations. Aesthetic discourse is produced from the mind depending on the various symbolic, psychological and social functions, production methods,

Fifty samples (ten sample for each kind of biscuit) were studed,Two are local, others are Iranian,Turkish, and Holandies. The following results have been achieved :1. The highest number of bacteria was 21.6×103 cell/g in Iranian biscuit while the lowest number was 14.3× 103 cell/g in local biscuit No.1 . The highest number of fungi was 16×103 colony/g and the lowest number was 5.3×103 colony/g in the Iranian and the local biscuit No.1,respectively.2. Staphylococcus aureus was the major bacteria appeared at highest level of 100% in Turkish biscuit. The lowest percentage was found in H
